It snowed a few inches and the farm was coated pretty well. We have a procession of storms that will be rolling through the next week so this is likely just the start of the deluge. It is snowing again today and should add another couple inches.
After taking R to school I set about getting beans in the crockpot to eventually end up in the freeze dryer. I'm going for minute beans and will be doing a batch of rice at the same time. I started out sorting them for broken and bad ones before giving them a good rinsing.
I added onion flakes, salt, pepper, beef broth, garlic powder, and hot water to the crock before dumping the beans in.
I covered them in boiling water and let the thing go all afternoon. By about 6:00 pm they had soaked up most of the water and were nice and soft. I let them cool overnight and will be draining off the remaining water before spreading them out on trays to chill or pre-freeze.
The afternoon I spent in the studio after picking R up from school. I forgot to get pics until it was dark but I had to use a head lamp much of the time anyway. I am having a problem in my wiring so far and need to troubleshoot it today. Something seems to be feeding back and popped the breaker when I plugged in hte extension cord.
The wire is all rerouted inside and the lights and outlets each have a breaker. I have a 220 breaker and wire run down to the 20 amp outlet that will be the plug in spot for the heater.
Today I have to take the co-op order in first thing then R goes to his last day of school for 2020, the current run on the freeze dryer should finish so I can get the next one started, it is going to snow most of the day, and I really need to get a bale into the sheep as they have fully eaten the prior one.
