Frida ha sido inspiración de muchos yo no soy la excepción, esta fue su semana, el 6 de julio cumplía años de vida y hoy 13 se conmemora su partida, por eso quise enaltecerla haciéndola parte de mi lienzo y compartiendolo con ustedes para quienes deseen llevarla consigo.
Frida has been an inspiration to many, I am not the exception, this was her week, July 6th was her birthday and today 13th is her death, so I wanted to exalt her by making her part of my canvas and sharing it with you for those who wish to take her with them.
Vamos por los materiales pero antes de empezar tengamos limpia la superficie a trabajar: tijeras, papel, alfileres, tela a gusto personal procurando sea ligera y fresca, paciencia y buena música.
Let's get the materials but before we start let's clean surface to work on: scissors, paper, pins, fabric to personal taste trying to be light and fresh, patience and good music.
Este fue un dibujo que hice en Canvas y de allí vino el incentivo de plasmarlo en la polera, lo use como guía para hacer el patchwork de Frida. Marcamos la silueta en la tela escogida y cortamos como aparece en la foto.
I made this drawing in Canvas, from there came the incentive to capture it on the T-shirt, I used it as a guide to make Frida's patchwork. Mark the silhouette on the chosen fabric and cut it as it appears in the photo.
Frida es referencia de flores, elemento clave para identificarla, entonces vamos a hacerlas. Cortamos la mitad de los círculos, enrollamos dando forma de flor y aseguramos con puntadas simples, así vamos haciendo el cintillo icónico de nuestra Frida.
Frida is a flower reference, a key element to identify her, so let's do it. Cut off half of the circles, roll them into a flower shape and secure them with simple stitches, thus making our Frida's iconic headband.
Como esto se trata de expresión personal, puedes hacer otros elemento que te identifiquen, en mi caso son las mariposas, es importante para que esté en casi todo lo que hago. Por eso tomé un círculo, lo ajusté en el centro y lo doblé uno de los extremos para darle forma a una mariposa de perfil.
As this is about personal expression, you can add other elements that identify you, in my case the butterflies, it's important for me to be in almost everything I do. That's why I took a circle, adjusted it in the center and folded one of the ends to shape a butterfly.
Una vez consideremos este listo, probamos y ajustamos las formas en el lienzo donde vamos a lucir a nuestra Frida, yo hice unos ajustes porque cuando quemé las orillas de las piezas cambiaron un poco de forma, tú también puedes darte esa libertad, recuerda es: “Dilo con Tu Polera”.
Once you think it is ready, try and adjust the shapes on the canvas where you are going to wear Frida, I made some adjustments because when I burned the edges of the pieces they changed a little bit of shape, you can also do it, remember this is: "Dilo con tu Polera".
