Today we are going to conclude this journey which was the process of making Lady Oscar's costume (French imperial guard version) ✨ 👌

In the previous post we concluded the jacket part, the textile part, in this final stage I will show you how I made all the remaining accessories of the design. You can see the original design guide in the first part of this Cosplayeril journey 🧵 ❤

Después de terminar la chaqueta, los primeros accesorios que hice fueron las hombreras. Para a base utilice cartón piedra, un cartón no tan grueso pero muy resistente (de fibra compacta).

After finishing the jacket, the first accessories I made were the shoulder pads. For the base I used papier-mache, a not so thick but very resistant cardboard (made of compact fiber).

Para darle altura a las piezas, hice un relleno de poliuretano de unos 2 cm de ancho, todo marcado previamente con un molde de papel, como siempre los patrones guía son nuestros mejores amigos.

To give height to the pieces, I made a polyurethane padding about 2 cm wide, all previously marked with a paper mold, as always the guide patterns are our best friends.

Antes de continuar con el forrado de las piezas, hice una prueba del aplique dorado que escogí para los bordes, y lo coloque con ayuda de los alfileres para tener una idea exacta de cómo seria el resultado. Nunca coloquen de manera fija esta clase de decoraciones sin hacer pruebas previas, porque al despegarlas se estropean irremediablemente.

Before continuing with the lining of the pieces, I made a test of the golden applique I chose for the edges, and I placed it with the help of the pins to have an exact idea of how the result would be. Never place this kind of decorations in a fixed way without making previous tests, because when you take them off they are irremediably damaged.

Para la parte inferior de las hombreras, utilice dos pequeños retazos de la misma gabardina romana de la que hice la chaqueta para forrar. Para la parte superior y los bordes o contornos, utilice un poco de masa plástica para pared, y la extendí con una paleta, solo una fina capa que después lije con papel de lija 400.

For the lower part of the shoulder pads, I used two small scraps of the same Roman gabardine I made the jacket from for lining. For the top and the edges or contours, I used some plastic wall dough, and spread it with a trowel, just a thin layer that I then sanded with 400 grit paper.

Para todo el contorno de ambas piezas, hice tiras de tela de lame dorado (una tela sintética fina de color metalizado que se deshilacha con facilidad), y luego probé los siguientes tipos de aplique. La tela dorada sirve de fondo para los apliques porque todos tienen pequeños espacios que dejan ver el fondo blanco, y para mantener la uniformidad visual, preferí usar tela antes que pintura.

For the entire outline of both pieces, I made strips of gold lame fabric (a thin metallic-colored synthetic fabric that frays easily), and then tried the following types of applique. The gold fabric serves as a background for the appliques because they all have small gaps that let the white background show through, and to maintain visual uniformity, I preferred to use fabric rather than paint.

Para la esquina de las hombreras que queda cerca del cuello, hice una pequeña imitación de trenzado utilizando como base pelón o entretela con adhesivo que se activa con el calor, y bies dorado de seda. Lo coloque de manera que pareciera una trenza, utilice la plancha de ropa a mediana temperatura y listo.

For the corner of the shoulder pads that is near the neck, I made a small imitation braid using as a base a pelón or interlining with heat-activated adhesive, and gold silk bias binding. I placed it in such a way that it looked like a braid, used the clothes iron at medium temperature and that was it.

Para la parte superior, utilice oleo color dorado. El contraste entre la "tela trenzada" y el borde de lame dorado es muy hermoso. Todavía no lo sellaremos, lo dejaremos así para el siguiente paso.

For the upper part, use gold colored oil paint. The contrast between the "braided fabric" and the gold lick border is very beautiful. We won't seal it yet, we'll leave it like this for the next step.

En partes anteriores mencione varias veces que NO desecháramos las figuras "sobrantes" de la plantilla principal de la chaqueta. Esas figuras nos servirán en este momento para elaborar las decoraciones en relieve que van encima de las hombreras.

In previous parts I mentioned several times that we should NOT discard the "leftover" figures from the main template of the jacket. These figures will be used at this point to make the embossed decorations that go on top of the shoulder pads.

La masa flexible es uno de mis materiales favoritos porque es muy fácil de manejar, no necesitas hacer un gran despliegue de destrezas para obtener piezas limpias. En este caso primero tome una porción y la aplane con un rodillo plástico (una botella de vidrio también funciona).

Flexible dough is one of my favorite materials because it is so easy to handle, you don't need to do a lot of skill to get clean pieces. In this case first take a portion and flatten it with a plastic rolling pin (a glass bottle also works).

Luego transferí la silueta de las figuras seleccionadas, y aquí esta el secreto:

Humedecí la punta de un alfiler fino y con él hice los cortes.

Then I transferred the silhouette of the selected figures, and here's the secret:

I wet the tip of a thin pin and with it I made the cuts.

Las piezas pueden dejarse secar sobre un trozo de goma espuma o esponja grande, o pueden pegarse a las hombreras inmediatamente después de cortadas (con un poco de pegamento para madera o escolar es suficiente). La porcelana fría o masa flexible encoje un poco y es normal que las dimensiones de las figuras reduzcan un poco.

The pieces can be left to dry on a large piece of foam rubber or sponge, or they can be glued to the shoulder pads immediately after cutting (a little wood glue or school glue is enough). The cold porcelain or flexible dough shrinks a little and it is normal that the dimensions of the figures reduce a little.

Yo escogí pegarla de una vez, no sin antes fijar un aplique dorado en todo el contorno de la hombrera, para calcular con exactitud el espacio entre las figuras en relieve y el marco de cada pieza. También pueden ver las opciones de botones que escogí para la parte trenzada, al final escogí el segundo modelo de la primera línea.

I chose to glue it all at once, but not before fixing a golden applique all around the shoulder pad, in order to calculate exactly the space between the embossed figures and the frame of each piece. You can also see the button options I chose for the braided part, at the end I chose the second model of the first line.

Para las medallas, tome como punto de partida las dimensiones de los apliques para hacer los patrones con todos sus detalles.

For the medals, take as a starting point the dimensions of the appliqués to make the patterns with all their details.

Admito que repetí varias veces los patrones sabiendo que las dimensiones siempre cambian un poco cuando los llevas al material final. Y como siempre, desde el fondo de mi corazón siempre estaré agradecida con mi maestra de dibujo técnico del bachillerato.

I admit that I repeated the patterns several times knowing that the dimensions always change a little when you take them to the final material. And as always, from the bottom of my heart I will always be grateful to my high school technical drawing teacher.

Para estas medallas, el primer material con el que experimente fue cartón grueso, y después con una masa termoplástica que me dieron de cortesía (un amigo cosplayer venezolano, que estaba en busca de desarrollar un material parecido al worbla pero con materiales nacionales). Se llamaba "Reciprop", producido por Beto Alemani.

For these medals, the first material I experimented with was thick cardboard, and then with a thermoplastic mass that was given to me as a courtesy (a Venezuelan cosplayer friend, who was looking to develop a material similar to worbla but with national materials). It was called "Reciprop", produced by Beto Alemani.

Mientras la base de las medallas se secaba, agregue medias perlas miniatura a todo el contorno de mi base de camafeo, y ensamble el centro de otra medalla, encontrando apliques de plástico que imitan el vidrio.

While the base of the medals dried, I added miniature half pearls to the entire outline of my cameo base, and assembled the center of another medal, finding plastic appliques that mimic glass.

Una segunda versión de estas medallas las hice en masa flexible o porcelana fría, el nombre siempre va a variar dependiendo el país donde te encuentres. Es necesario dejarlo secar sobre una esponja o un trozo de goma espuma so pena de que se deforme a medida que se seque.

A second version of these medals I made them in flexible dough or cold porcelain, the name will always vary depending on the country where you are. It is necessary to let it dry on a sponge or a piece of foam rubber or it will deform as it dries.

Las versiones de "Reciprop" quedaron especialmente resistentes y ligeras, pero algo ásperas al tacto, no se deformaron al secar y curiosamente las puntas se sentían hasta filosas.

The "Reciprop" versions were especially strong and light, but somewhat rough to the touch, did not deform when drying and curiously the tips felt even sharp.

Para las medallas en tela uní 4 tipos diferentes de cinta de seda, con puntada invisible (hilo y aguja regular) y algo de pegamento UHU. Las decoraciones extra son pequeñas piezas metálicas, unas con baño de oro y algunos cristales checos.

For the fabric medals I attached 4 different types of silk ribbon, with invisible stitch (regular thread and needle) and some UHU glue. The extra decorations are small metal pieces, some gold plated and some Czech crystals.

Para el final, utilice pintura acrílica y oleo blanco, lo selle con resina acriplástica y las decoraciones extra, en lugar de ser del mismo material o pintura rojo cereza, utilice una delicada cinta de seda cuyo color y ancho me fascinó.

For the finish, I used acrylic paint and white oil paint, sealed it with acrylic resin and the extra decorations, instead of being of the same material or cherry red paint, I used a delicate silk ribbon whose color and width fascinated me.

Este proyecto me trajo muchas bonitas experiencias y satisfacción. Gracias a este Cosplay tuve la oportunidad de conocer personas maravillosas que aprecian obras icónicas, delicadas y de contenido noble, lo que vale muchísimo para mi en un momento donde el fandom no tiene interés por las obras que fundaron las bases de los géneros de manga y anime como los conocemos hoy en día.

This project brought me many beautiful experiences and satisfaction. Thanks to this Cosplay I had the opportunity to meet wonderful people who appreciate iconic, delicate and noble content works, which is worth a lot to me at a time where the fandom has no interest in the works that founded the foundations of manga and anime genres as we know them today.

Aprendí muchísimo durante este viaje y mi confianza en mis habilidades y destrezas tomo un poco más de fuerza. Durante todo el camino nunca estuve segura de cómo quedaría pero tenia plena seguridad y confianza en mis sentimientos y visión de lo que quería alcanzar, y aunque no fue perfecto y se que pude haber ejecutado mejor muchas cosas, para ser mi primera vez haciendo yo misma desde cero un uniforme militar francés, wow, estoy bastante orgullosa de los resultados.

I learned a lot during this trip and my confidence in my skills and abilities took on a little more strength. All along the way I was never sure how it would look but I had full confidence and trust in my feelings and vision of what I wanted to achieve, and although it wasn't perfect and I know I could have executed many things better, for my first time making a French military uniform myself from scratch, wow, I'm pretty proud of the results.

Compraré y estilizaré una mejor peluca, algo mas teatral, agregare mas aditamentos a la chaqueta para hacerlo mas dramático, comprare unas botas nuevas y mejores, y hare desde cero el sombrero de este atuendo, el pareo, y también ubicare replicas de armas de la época (un amigo que conoce coleccionistas de antigüedades en la ciudad me esta ayudando con eso, estoy muy agradecida y emocionada).

I will buy and style a better wig, something more theatrical, add more attachments to the jacket to make it more dramatic, buy some new and better boots, and make from scratch the hat for this outfit, the sarong, and also locate replica weapons from the period (a friend who knows antique collectors in town is helping me with that, I am very grateful and excited).
