Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
I'm here for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured ruleset Back to Basics. It is a ruleset that makes all monster lose their abilities.
The Battle that I will show to you this week was from which is a scholar account I'm playing from Balthazar Guild with max level Chaos Legion deck which placed 38th on the leaderboard last season and was currently playing on Diamond League but before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this ruleset.
Armored Up
Back To Basics | Monsters lose all abilities. |
The ruleset places importance on Magic and Ranged attacks as melee attacks loose their ability to hit outside of the first position.
The choice of summoner will be vital for this ruleset as monsters can gain additional abilities and stats that would not be affected by the rule set.
Back row monsters are safe from enemy's Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity attacks.
Select monsters with high speed and choose a summoner that increases damage or defense against Magic or Ranged attacks.
Lining up monsters in ascending order of their health is the way to go.
The levels of summoners and monsters also greatly affects the outcome of the battle since the higher the level of the summoner and monsters are the higher the stats they have.

Opponent's Line- up
My Team
For this battle, we have Back to Basics which is the featured ruleset that gives +2 armor on all monsters, similar to Protect ability together with Born Again and Rise of the Commons. With this in consideration, my lineup was consist of:
Summoner: Astral Entity - Reduces the armor of all opponent monster by -2 and gives the Dodge ability that gives all ally monsters 25% chance to evade melee and range attacks while Resurrect allows an allied monsters to be revived once.
1st Position: Position**: Wily Coyotian - For 2 mana, this card has decent amount of armor and health combined with its speed allows it to attack faster and increase the chance to evade attacks.
2nd Position: Chaos Agent - A 1 mana card that although does not have an attack, also excels in terms of speed, increasing the chance to dodge attacks..
3rd Position: Life Sapper - A 3 mana magic card with decent speed.
4th Position: Xenith Archer - A 2 mana card range with decent speed.
5th Position: Dhampir Stalker - Quite fast but most importantly, it got high damage output and decent health.
6th Position: Soul Strangler was the last card which only cost 3 mana but also has high damage output.

Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
When it comes to the Back to Basics ruleset, it was only monsters that lose their abilities. This does not affect the summoners so choosing its best to consider choosing the optimal summoner that can give you the best ability for the given battle.
That was it for this post. Thank you and see you at the next one.
