Introduction
Hello there! @Saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!
I'm here for this week's Battle Mage Secrets with the featured ruleset Rise of the Commons. It is a ruleset were only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
The Battle that I will show to you this week was from bltzr-wizard-726 which is the scholar account I'm using from Balthazar Guild with max level gold foil CL deck and was playing at the modern format of the Diamond League. Before I show you the battle, let us learn more about this ruleset.
Rise of the Commons
Wands Out | Only monsters with |
Among all attack types, magic would be the considered as the strongest one as unlike melee and range, it can attack at any position and unless the monster have void armor, the attack can pass through most armor, directly damaging the targets health. Unless one has Phase, they cannot evade magic attacks regardless of their speed and only Void and Silence were the abilities that can reduce the damage from magic attack.
There are also lots of summoners could be proven to be synergistic with magic units and the question of which one to use will be situation- based.

My Team
For this battle, we have the featured rule set Wands Out that only allows the use of magic monsters which makes it tricky due to Counterspell that reflects magic damage, add to the Noxious Fumes that makes all monster poisoned, causing them to lose 2 health each round. With this in consideration, my lineup was consist of:
Summoner: Grandmaster Rathe - Provides +1 armor together with Void Armor that protects my monster from magic attacks until the armor were used and it's Amplify will increase the damage of Magic Reflect by +1 .
1st Position: Time Meddler - Despite its low level, it has decent amount of health and armor which allows it to serve as a tank.
2nd Position: Time Mage - Reduces the armor of the opponent with its Rust in case the opponent also have monsters with Void Armor and it's Slow will allow my monsters to be able to attack first.
3rd Position: Adelade Brightwing - Has the Immunity that makes it immune to Poison as well as Repair that will restore the armor of an allied monster. It also increases the speed of all ally monsters with Swiftness and for once, it can revive a defeated ally with it's Resurrect with 1 health and all negative buffs removed.
4th Position: Magi of Chaos - Has Oppress that can double damage on non- damage monsters but since only magic units can be used, it was placed due to its huge damage output.
5th Position: Iziar - Has the Taunt ability that forces monsters to attack this card and it has Void which reduces magic attacks. Once it was defeated its Martyr would activate and would increase all the stats of monsters adjacent into it.
6th Position: Djinn Renova - Increases the health of all ally monsters with Strengthen and restores the health of damage monsters with Triage.

Battle Recap
Here is a replay of the battle which at you can watch at Splinterlands.
Did your Strategy Work?
The combination of rulesets for this battle are quite tricky specially that only magic units can be used. Thankfully I got my Grandmaster Rathe to be able to provide protection to my monsters while increasing the damage my opponent receives due to Magic Reflect which overall ended up to give me the victory for this match. Probably would not work if I am against Immortalis Or Lily but when it only comes with this 4 elements and exclusively Chaos Legion cards, there is no denying that I prefer to use this team.
That was it for this post. Thank you and see you at the next one.
