Pandesal is a Philippines breakfast roll that is often eaten in the mornings but is still a wonderful paring during snack times in the afternoons.
Fresh off the oven you could have it regular or to be extra toasted giving it a harder shell but still soft and moist on the inside.
I recently moved to a new house and was making breakfast. Nothing fancy just an egg, ham and pandesal with a cup of hot coffee. Simple.
I think that is just I yearn for. A simplicity and some happiness in my life.
Anyway going back to Pandesal I remember as a kid being told to buy a bag of pandesal for the morning breakfast. It used to be just 1 peso but now each one costs 3 pesos and a lot smaller.
Next month bakers are asking it to be increased again as apparently we are experiencing a sugar shortage and the price of flour has increased. So are truly in the golden age?
I made a short clip of myself talking about this in the video below if ever you wanted to hear me speak a bit.
