My microwaved steamed tofu.
Thrbprep work for this dish is extremely easy.
Heat up some oil and in go the garlic and shallots.
Keep watching and stirring them.
Until you see them starting to brown.
The sizzling sound of the hot shallot oil over the tofu is so satisfying!
Add light soy for seasoning.
Add a little bit of sesame for fragrance and taste.
This was how it looked before entering the microwave.
Now let the microwave do its magic!
I love simple dishes with hearty taste. Below I am sharing something zibised to see my mum-in-law did when she was still staying with us.
Introducing...
Microwaved steamed white tofu!
Tofu is actually a good source of protein if we have no eggs or meat. My youngest son super duper loves tofu and he will ask for it every now and then. Sometimes I use it for soup, otherwise this will be the way I serve it.
Ingredients:
- White Tofu
- chopped garlic
- chopped shallots
- soy sauce
- sesame oil
- white pepper
Easy no-brainer steps!
Tofu cooks fast so technically we do not need to really cook it. I usually get it out of its box and then cut them into rectangles and place into a microwaveable container.
Chop up the garlic and shallots and be generous with the amount.
In a pan, heat up some oil and drop in the garlic and shallots. Be sure to keep stirring them till they turn a bit brownish. Do not wait until they are charred only to dish them out. When you start seeing them turning brown, get ready to dish them out as they will still continue to cook. This is how we made shallots oil.
Pour into the microwaveable container. Drizzle in some light soy, white pepper and a bit of sesame oil.
Let the microwave do its work for 2 minutes.
Then it is time to taste it! You may have it with white rice or just without.
