Going "in" to the mall...
Garden corner
Poinsettias anyone?
A quick walk down the road...
It's a cold Friday and I'm just sitting here on my lil corner humming the good song with my heart filled with gratitude and more. Had a fun time most of yesterday playing Christmas medleys and singing along. It felt like I was a kid again and it was liberating!
Anyhow, we took these photographs when we were on a SunDate, or to put it correctly, a Sunday date. It was not really a date but let me just put it that way because it sounds good, lol! It's been a long while since we went to the busy city let alone take a walk on its streets but we did it not so recently on an impromptu side trip to the mall. Although I'm not fond of being in the midst of many people especially in commercial spaces but I do enjoy our once-in-a-blue moon visits like this one.
I previously shared our "Walk Amongst Volks" where we have seen various vintage Volkswagens on display and the "Faces on the Streets" with photos of some chalk arts and then there's the "Christmas Vibes in the City" where some holiday trees and ornaments were featured. And yes, these ones which are supposed to be included for a Market Friday post but I had a change of heart.
The first collection (collage) by the way were shot as we entered SM from the terrace. We took the shortcuts just so we don't join the long queue of people going through the protocol of having their bags being checked and all. No, it wasn't illegal to enter via the staircases because they're also passage ways to various restaurants and coffee shops.
Then as we headed to the escalators, we passed by the garden corner where the husband photographed the plant displays (pic #2&3) with the readily distinguishable Poinsettias which are well known as seasonal decorations. We would have taken time to explore the garden including that on the rooftop of the mall but we didn't because we had to find something first.
Just to share a bit about Poinsettia which I found to be quite interesting:
- It was known as "Mexican Flame Flower" or "Painted Leaf"
- The flower's name Poinsettia became common in 1836, from Joel Roberts Poinsett, a botanist and the first US Minister to Mexico who is credited with introducing the plant to the US in the 1820s - (Source)
And today's photo share ends with a collage of a few chalk arts and giant mandalas displayed along Session Road. We were exhausted on that Sunday afternoon's adventure but it's one of those walks we would love to remember.
Hope we are all having a fabulous time while we anticipate the coming of Christmas Eve (Day).
Cheers!
