I was back again at Supply & Demand, an "Italian inspired trattoria and pizzeria", in the heart of Orchard again today. After the rainy day that was yesterday, the weather was about as perfect as it could be. I really do so love it on days like this when it is cloudy yet bright. It isn't too hot to walk around and I don't have to feel all wet and gloomy too. :)
Back to the restaurant Supply & Demand. This time round, I was seated at a different location as compared to my previous visit. I thought the backdrop of bookshelves and the lighting made it feel very "Harry Potter" esque. No wizarding duels and shenanigans are allowed to spoil my meal however. I prefer to enjoy my food in peace.
I'll almost always order a glass of red and a pot of tea with my companion. This is a pretty standard drink order for me now. For starters, we had "DIRTY CHA CHAAN TENG FRIES". I'd assume that this was a Hong Kong/Cantonese inspired dish as indicated by it's name. The dish itself was fries baked with mozzarella cheese, topped with fried luncheon meat, a sunny egg, japanese mayo, hot sriracha sauce, parsley, shaved parmesan, scallions and chicken floss. It was really good, but also a very heavy snack to start with. I already knew we over ordered after this dish came along.
Next up was a pizza, "LA MATTINA DOPO", which translates into "the morning after". I'm not quite sure about the meaning of the name itself to be honest. But this was their signature pizza and it was topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, bacon and mushrooms with a soft egg set in the centre. It was really good too. The egg and it's toppings complemented the crispy based really nicely.
The final item on the menu we ordered was a good ol' beef steak. It was seared nicely to perfection and done to medium just as we requested. The steak was good and juicy, which is all that one can ask for. I find steaks to be a good indicator of the basic skills of a chef. It is easy to cook, but also equally as easy to screw up. This came as I requested and I enjoyed it.
We somehow did eventually finish most of the food, but left feeling really bloated. Thankfully the weather today was, as I mentioned, perfect for walking around. All those calories definitely needed to be walked off before we retired for the day. :)
