This is probably one of the best Asian inventions, like, ever.
A few people I know found it weird/interesting. You got BBQ in the middle and you got a delicious soup surrounding. It's 2 best in 1! In Thai, we call this 'Moo Kra ta'. Moo means pork, kra ta means pan, as simple as that. No, not too simple when it comes to other ingredients though. It's more like fun as you can mix and match all the vegetables, meats, rice, noodles and so on.
Enough about what 'Moo kra ta' is but let's get into this one place that serves one of the best Moo Kra ta I have ever had. I mean, not to be, over exaggerating, it's just got some small little detail that other places over look. 'IDK Moo kra ta' in Saraburi province in Thailand.
We order their standard set that comes with pork, beef, bacon, liver and so on. There are also choices of chicken, seafood and so on. The vegetables are served in a separate plate (duh!) and varies from cabbage, carrot, morning glory, vermicelli, and here comes one of those little small details I was talking about, corn! I don't see much of Moo Kra Ta places serve sweet corn in a veggies plate. Why is it worth mentioning even? Because corn change the whole things around and make the soup tastes sweeter than any other things on the plate.
There's also this green egg noodle which is rarely served at other places as well. It's such a great complimentary to this kind of meal. Lastly, there are a few types of dipping sauce instead of just one. They got one that sweet, and one that spicy. It's been a while since I have the sweet kind and mostly those are served to kids. Now that I got a chance to try this with Moo Kra Ta, I just felt like I had been missing out all this time. It once again, really compliments this kind of meal.
I love having Moo Kra Ta for dinner especially when it's cold out. Cold weather, great BBQ, warm soup... It just couldn't sound better!
This one is sure one of my favorite Moo Kra Ta so far and even better that it's not far from my home at all.
This whole set costs us more or less $10. Nope, it's not all you can eat but this one meal really filled us up so, no matter it's a buffet or not, this is way beyond being full. Super great value & dang delicious! Can't wait to be back again!
