This is probably one of the best combination of 2 completely different things combined. It's art and food! Well, food is a form of art in a way so..
One thing I like the most about Chiang Mai is there are endless of activities throughout the weeither weekend or not. I have been enjoying the dances, the Muay Thai, Music and night market in general. Another good thing is that, there are a few university around so there are also a lot of students' event going on. This one that I just went to was one of them. Imagine these 2 things combined, art and food! How better could an event sound?
Pottery + Potluck! @InClay Studio
A few weeks ago when I just arrived to Chiang Mai, I called my friend who's a local there in Chiang Mai as she's been living here for 10 years ++ and I was going to go out somewhere but she said she's at this event with some free food! I was already excited with the word free food but even more excited when I found out it's not just the potluck but also pottery!
Where we went called InClay Studio, it's pretty much where people come to learn how to make all the pottery. Be it, a jar, coffee cups, plates, bowls and all things. They have events going on every now and then and I found it interesting so here I'm sharing with you my own experience visiting one of the events by them.
The place is quite hidden just somewhere in Chiang Mai city. The space is open in a garden with some good greens surrounded. It's totally perfect for a potluck. Big clay oven in a shape of a crab (I don't know why either) in the middle of the place.
All the students got their own table with their own handmade pottery with the secret recipes that they provide to cook and serve in their own handcrafted plates or bowls. Cooking happily and proudly served it on their proudly presented pottery. Sounds fun to me. I would be just as happy and proud as they were!
The food!
The food varies from northern Thai food like chili paste, fried rice, crab sauce in a crab shell (I don't know how to explain properly but dipping the sticky rice in it is so littt) to clay oven pizza (duh!) and maybe some homemade dessert being made right in the kitchen! All the food was so good. There's also a cocktail corner serving fruit punch or any kind of cocktails you ask for and of course, served in the clay cups! So awesome.
I just love the vibes of the event in general. The music, the green, a little breeze make it feel good but not gonna lie, the unlimited homemade food made it even more special. I could totally do this every week.
I took a quick peek on their facebook page and seems like they have events going on now and then so if you ever make it to Chiang Mai and want to join one of them, I suggest you follow and have a look on their page https://www.facebook.com/Inclaystudio
I had a very good experience myself and sure would love to be back one of these days when I'm still in town.
Happy Friday to all!
