A long Sunday run is always more enjoyable when you have company. Today I headed out in the morning with , and we ran together toward La Plaza Los Palos Grandes. It rained a little along the way, and we got a bit wet before we even started running.
But we arrived right on time at the meeting spot since we were going to do a special route: a reconnaissance run of the ONE RUN race course, which will take place on May 23. They had designed different routes and distances: 21 km, 12 km, and 10 km.
I had signed up for the 21-kilometer group. Once the groups were organized, we set out to run. Today’s strategy was to run at a pace of 6:50 per kilometer, which is a conservative pace since we’d done speed work during the week. I ran the entire route with Miguel, a fellow runner from the plaza, and even though we were paying close attention to the route, we took a wrong turn twice and didn’t follow the correct path. In the end, we only ran 18 kilometers, which is still very good.
!
I felt great because I tested myself a little before the race, and the result is that I have to keep training with a lot of discipline because I’d like to run at a pace of 6:20 per kilometer in the race.
The weather was on our side because there was no sun, though it was very humid, and we even got a light drizzle along the way—I won’t even tell you what my shoes looked like afterward.
We keep racking up kilometers for health and well-being
