Shahi tukra is a Mughlai dessert and very popular in Bangladesh. It made with ghee fried bread, thickened sweetened milk, saffron and nuts. The aroma is amazing and its mouthwatering taste can attack any sweet lover.
We just finished our 'fasting' month, the month of Ramadan. And shahi tukra- this recipe was one of the major dishes during the whole month on my dining table. Everyone loves it and it's not that tough to prepare. The best thing is it only takes a few ingredients and they are very available.
Let's see how I made it!
Is not it delicious!
What we need?
- Bread
- Milk
- Ghee (Butter)
- Sugar
- Saffron
- Nuts (Almond, Pistachio, Cashew)
- Raisin (optional)
How to make it?
Cut the bread like this. Remove the brown sides.
Fry it on the ghee/butter.
It's ready for the next step.
Put one cup of water and half a cup of sugar to make a medium-thick syrup.
slightly put the syrup over the bread or brush it.
Take one liter of milk, boil it and make it think. Put half a cup of condensed milk and half a cup of milk powder. Mix it well.
Put the pieces of bread on the milk, rest it for half an hour, and put it in the fridge for another hour. And it's ready to eat!
You can out the nuts after preparing it. And add some saffron while preparing the milk. I was running out of saffron so I didn't add it. And I forgot to take a snap after putting the nuts.
This easy dessert is absolutely delicious. The fragrance of the ghee and the thick taste of milk is amazing. You can try it at home.
