Phraeris :)
The Thai northern province we have visited and we loved called 'Phrae' and this French style inspired cafe we went to just creatively named 'Phraeris'. Made me smile but.. did you get it?
Anyways, a hotel receptionist we're staying at recommended this place. Say it offers one of the best croissants around! and their coffee is also great! Coffee and croissants so without any second thought, (not even sure if there's the first thought either), we just went! Just 5 mins from a restaurant we did a very good review on the last post, Kuakul Kitchen.
Le Gong Gao - Cafe' de Phraeris
This cafe is located in the touristic area in Phrae called Gong Gao so here we go again, Le Gong Gao - Cafe' de Phraeris. Love not just how smart they are with the name but also with the up-sell marketing, they have this sign where they make sure all the customers see it before walking through the front door.
On the sign, they mention what are the MUST-TRY of the place varies from drinks to dessert making me (and I'm sure others as well) want to try all of them! Luckily, self resistance is quite good so we only ordered 3 types of dessert with one drink! #lol Almost didn't want to eat anything again afterwards that night.
No wonder why they're known for their croissants. The crispiness from outside, soft and buttery layers after layers from the inside. There are a few different kinds as well but I went with sliced almonds. The burned cheesecake was rich and smooth. The only dessert I didn't quite like was that a little over baked macaron (or wrong temperature or something). It's just a little too crumbled.
Phraeris' iced espresso
I know! This might sound so weird for most but in Thailand, this is normal. We have such thing as 'Cold espresso' and you would be even more surprised if I tell you it's served with milk!
I normally just go with americano or black coffee but when the coffee is really featured on the recommended items on the sign just right in front the shop, I just gotta order and I did. I could smell and taste the coffee quite clearly and yes, it smelled good! The milk made it smooth and excuse me, with milk coffee, I added a little sweetness so the whole cup kinda was a little dessert item itself.
I love where it's located. Just at one of the corners on a small touristic/historic road in Phrae. It's not that busy but it's real pretty and chill. There are 2 stories and the outside upstair was just perfect for some few hours laptop time. I would sure recommend anyone visit this place if they're in the area. Just order a regular coffee along with some dessert so it's not all dessert as a whole #lol
It was lovely and unique! Sure loved it!
