This is often said that money can't buy us happiness, well is that 100% accurate? I know happiness does come from other things as well, in a form of love, affection, peaceful mind, leading healthy life and mostly when we have meaningful relationships. Still I have a different opinion about the situation. I belive that money is a very essential thing in our daily life.
There are people who cannot get proper education because they lack money, some are losing their lives because they can't buy necessary medicines, some are not even having a safe home, lack of money creates stressful and painful situations which can harm someones mental health.
Even if money is not everything, but it's the only way which can help someone to have comfort and security. I have personally seen how money can affect a person’s mental peace. My friend Rakib was having financial problems and he constantly had to worry about family expenses, even though he was very young but still he couldn't bear it when landlords would come and insult his parents. The atmosphere at home became heavy, he could barely sleep in peace, the incidents kept replaying in the back of his mind.
Everyone in his family was fully stressed, his mom became aggressive. His mom would argue with his dad for not earning enough money, she said "How long will we keep getting insluted by others for a few penny? Why don't you do something else? My biggest mistake was to marry a loser like you!." Day by day It was difficult to focus on happiness because survival became Rakib's first priority.
That day after knowing his situation, my eyes were teary because I could not imagine myself in that situation. It made me realize that having enough money to live properly is necessary. Finally we met and I gave him some money which was very small amount, but it looked like he was a bit relieved than before. By using money we can't directly get happiness, but it removes many worries that steal happiness away.
On the other hand, people who has money they are also not happy. Like they have everything we could ever wish for but they find themselves lonely. They are never satisfied with one thing, they are always chasing for more and more. If someone is hungry for money all the time and always thinking about money then that's the beginning of a problem.
In worldsview which is our society, people starts to compare one with another like who has more wealth, who is richer and it happens commonly on social media. For some people success only means becoming richer than someone else, as if it's a competition. While people work nonstop they do not get the chance to enjoy the moment and often forget to take a break, in this procedure they begin to lose themselves in the race for money.
So what should we do? Which one is better? Actually none of them is good for us if it's done excessively and to avoid that, the conclusion we all need is balance. We should work hard for money to fulfil our basic needs and because we all have responsibilities. To support family and to build a peaceful future, to live with freedom. But we should not make money the only purpose of life. We can't let money control us. We should be a sole owner of our life.
Earning money doesn't mean that we should compromise our health, doesn't mean we should ignore our loved ones, doesn't mean that we should ruin our peace of mind. We should make balance between these two and enjoy small moments with family. But being ignorant that money isn't everything is a wrong concept, we are not living in a fairy tale. The outside world is very harsh, if we want to protect our loved ones then we will need money.
One last thing, I would say if people stops comparing their lives to others then life will be more beautiful. Like we are all different, and everyone has a different path. Our paths might cross but that doesn't mean that we are on the same journey. The options which are available to one person, the other person might not have it. Everyone has their own journey and should accept it instead of comparing.
In conclusion money can make life our less stressful which means happiness but let’s not make it our sole purpose. Happiness can be achieved when you know how to balance between them.
