Hello you, movie lovers and review fans!
It has to be strange to see such movie title on my blog, after Mulan and Enola Holmes. They were so light and almost childish, that this move came as a surprise for me too.
I usually love science fiction movies, but I have to be completely honest, I love Borat too. It's a type of movie that you either hate or love, but there is always reaction, and I like that. Be aware that there will be some spoilers and honest opinions!
- Title: Borat Subsequent Moviefilm
- Year: 2020.
- Genre: Comedy
- Directed by: Jason Woliner
- Running time: 1h 35 min
The Plot
Borat is pulled out of jail to rescue the Kazakhstan nation, by giving a special gift to the USA nation. The gift is a monkey, meant to put Kazakhstan closer to USA. But that's just the beginning of this wild ride.
We now see that Borat has sons and a daughter, who is represented as a oppressed female living in a cage. Everything about this movie is exaggerated, you have to keep that in mind, but with a purpose.
So, Borat goes to USA, monkey crate comes with dead, half eaten monkey and his smuggled daughter. In attempt to stay out of prison and make a mend, Borat offers to give his daughter as a gift to someone in the power in exchange for good relationship between USA and Kazakhstan.
The daughter is messy, uneducated and comes with a manual that tells you all about "caring" for daughters. Like what cage they need and why it's dangerous for them to touch their private parts (with photos).
Borat is on the mission to make his daughter desirable as a present for a man in power. Going through full makeover with real Americans and their reactions. They fight a lot, come closer and go through this adventure like Borat would do. There was so much happening that one blog can't cover it all.
My opinion
Here comes the interesting part, why I love Borat in general. I like it because it's different, we see actors on one side and real humans and their reactions on the other. Also, this is the first movie where Corona is mentioned at all and I wanted to see how that looks.
From American point of view, I doubt they would find it funny at all. But for me it was brutally honest and very well made. We see emotions, confusion, empathy. He is insulting almost everyone, Jewish people who later become one of the rare that excepted him. Americans, politicians and people in general.
He is also giving a lot of attention to female position in the world, absolutely exaggerates the situation but makes you realize how things really are today.
The movie is extremely controversial, leaves you with your mouth opened and in surprise with almost every scene. But, you can't deny it's impact! You know how bad things are in the world, we are just used to Hollywood representation of life, witch is totally understandable but at the same time fake.
Borat is brave and crazy for sure, but I liked it a lot and I recommend that you watch it with an open mind and sense of humor.
With love,
Tamara
