It is #theweekend! I had an unusual weekend last weekend with some amazing people. It was a bit out of the norm as I don't usually go out on weekends, what more into the Kuala Lumpur city center!
There was a reason why I went into KL city center though ad I usually avoid the weekend crowd. My friends and I have long marked a date to celebrate 's birthday. We made some arrangements with family members at home, mainly the husbands to take care of our children and off we went for our birthday plan.
I joined an online queue earlier with Haidilao, one of the rather famous hotpots in South East Asia now, which opened first in Singapore I think, then it branched out to Malaysia. After picked me as the last passenger, we headed towards Pavilion for the dinner celebration. Our birthday girl was thinking we were going to another restaurant in KLCC. After that, when we were approaching then she suddenly realized oh we are going to Haidilao because she did think she wants to try out this place!
Upon reaching the restaurant, we could walk right in because my waiting number which I took earlier online had already been called. There was a table ready for us right beside the window.
We arrived at slightly past 6pm. First thing first, we needed to place order for the soup and also the ingredients we wanted to have for the hotpot. We ordered a Dashi soup and a Seafood based soup. Then we proceeded to scroll over the ingredients to see what we wanted to have.
We were served with popcorns which they made very very delicious popcorns and some fruits while waiting.
I looked up and saw many CCTVs on the ceiling. So looks like they do monitor the quality of their service a lot.
They also allocate a waitress for every few tables so we can reach out for her for anything we need.
Walking Around the Place to Take a Look!
Whilst waiting, I went to walk around to take a look at the place. It actually offers a lot more than just food!
This is a play area for children to keep them entertained.
Here is a waiting area that I am not too sure for who.
They do sell some merchandises too.
There is this particular service that is really famous among ladies, FREE manicure!!! We need to queue online too using their tablet if we want to have this service. It takes quite a long time to be done so we skipped it. But it is understood that nice manicure requires at least 20 minutes and above.
More snacks at the waiting area. The snacks here are free to be taken if we were to wait for our table. We got them too though we did not wait.
This is a photo printing machine if we want to print the photos we took here in Haidilao.
I went back in to look at their sauces station. We can pick our sauces and fruits.
This is a chilled cabinet for their chilled soybean curd/ taufu fa.
The tables here are arranged in a very neat way to sit the amount of guests entering the restaurants.
Okay food, here we come!!!
Before our food is served, they served us warm towels each to just wipe hands or face to help us feel comfortable. Hospitality wise, I have to commend this restaurant. It did help us relax to enjoy the food.
Now here is our 2 soup bases: Dashi soup on the right, Seafood soup on the left.
Let me give you the list of food of what we ordered (some of which I did not take photos of):
✅️Squid Pork meatballs
✅️Pork Meatball
✅️Pork Belly
✅️Fine Third Line Meat
✅️Cuttlefish balls
✅️Sliced Barramundi
✅️Fatty Beef Slices
✅️Fishballs with Roe
✅️Deep fried beancurd skin rolls
✅️Chinese Cabbage
✅️Romaine (Yao Mak Tam in Chinese)
✅️Haidilao Noodles
Our pork slices and some seafood balls have arrived with the vegetables. So we started dropping some of these in first after the soup boiled.
was stirring the sauce for dipping. We ordered one spicy and another non-spicy.
This is their signature beef slices. Very fresh and nice! I think all of us enjoyed this the most. We did not cook it very long as we did not want to overcook it so we managed to still keep it very tender.
These are some sliced Barramundi. They are very sweet after we cooked them in the hotpot soup.
Some squid balls and fish balls with roe. The one on the most right is beancurd roll. We dipped this in the soup just for maybe 3 seconds and we picked it up. Very delicious!
Everything came rather quick except for the Haidilao noodles. We actually knew beforehand that if we order their noodles, they will send someone to do a "noodle pulling" performance. We saw him doing it to our next door table.
We had finished all our ingredients and were about to cancel the noodles before the guy suddenly came to perform it. So we still gladly had it though it took much longer time and we were already very full from the meal. Nevertheless the noddle was good. I like its slightly chewy and bouncy texture.
After the noodle, we ordered our desserts and I "took out my extra stomach reserved only for dessert". Hahahahah it is just me when it comes to dessert no matter how full I could be, there is always an extra space for something sweet.
We were to choose from soybean curd pudding, ice-cream or the Ai Yu Jelly. Hahah we ordered all!
I liked all of them but especially the ice cream which has a lime flavour in it to help me alleviate the overeating feeling haha.
Burp.....oops, excuse me!
At 7pm we were finally done. Here are some happy and satisfied faces!
I looked out the window before leaving and realized that the night life of the city center has begun. Just look at the amount of cars and the jam!
When we walked out of the restaurant at past 7pm, we could see the queue getting longer and more people were seen at the waiting area.
My reviews as my second time in this outlet:
Cleanliness ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (on the slightly higher side)
Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We spent about RM72 per person and of course we treated the birthday girl for her portion. She thinks it is an expensive treat but we think she is totally worth it. "Your wish is our command." Hahaha! Because we knew it was a place she did think of trying and yet to try, so we think bringing her here on her birthday will be great!
We had such a great time celebrating who did not want to let the restaurant know it was for her birthday. They do bring a board to whoever celebrating birthday in their venue and will start singing birthday song as loud as they can. Hahaha! Overall we did enjoy the food and place very much. Of course, the company of whom we went with was also very nice and pleasant!
