The Photo Man
Image created using Canva
I turned and was stopped by the sight of a young man with orange hair who had a camera pointed at me from the door.
As the pictures printed out from the side my blood chilled.
He took a picture of both me and Mirror man in his hand.
He flung Mirror Man's picture to the floor and immediately he splattered to the ground where he stood behind me, an image amongst the collection, while his picture faded to black and white.

A home is not a house, it can be a person or a tree with branches

On important holidays it was a sacred ritual to be around my grandmother, talking to her, listening to her. At Christmas, for example, all the children who lived apart would come early in the morning, ready to spend those days together with us, gathered in the house. Uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, brothers and grandmother made up my big paternal family. My house, with five rooms, was filled with people even in the corners, because we all wanted to be with her: my grandmother.

The premonition

Then I decided to look for a place by my own means. I felt like I was in a labyrinth and with the anguish of missing my work appointment. When I turned a corner at full speed I stumbled and fell backward to the ground, with my blood boiling inside me I got up and started to claim with euphoria, when I looked closely I saw that it was a girl.
She was wearing that flowered dress and when she lifted her face, I could not believe it, it was her: the woman of my dreams. My tension was dropping and she gave me a beautiful smile, she stood up. "Sorry I didn't see where you were coming from, hehe..."

The Troubled Mind And The Broken Heart

“....I told Mom and Dad. I told them. I said ‘This place isn’t safe. This town may look all quiet and calm, packed away in a forest, but they experiment here. They try to mutate nature. One of these days they're gonna start a creature revolution and kill the whole population living here, but did they listen to me? No!” Javeon slammed something that made Niko jump. His voice then went high-pitched. “Javeon, the school gives college-level classes, this is a great opportunity, blah blah blah I ALMOST GOT KILLED TONIGHT!? YA’ HAPPY NOW MOM!?” Javeon yelled in his own voice.

Pain Thieves

The night arrived with all its secrets. I went back to the island, looking for jewels hidden inside the sand as usual. As I was looking, I noticed a womanly figure wearing a long black dress was watching me from behind the trees in the wooded area beside the beach. She suddenly moved towards me. She was so fast that I didn’t have the chance to escape her grip. I stood up, and she took my hand. Half of her face was burned. I couldn’t move; I was paralyzed. She had magical powers. I tried to jump to another dimension or even wake up, but I couldn’t.
“Why did you steal my pain? How are you allowed to be here? This place is protected by powerful spells!” she asked with a raspy voice. “I will never let you go! You have something that belongs to me!”

Father! I want to be a Journalist

"Associating with that boy is what has put ideas in your head Ivy. Do you want to become a journalist? Are you willing to die? I've given you a peaceful life here for 12 years, why isn't that enough for you?"
"Because I want more!" She hadn't spoken back to her father for as long as she could remember. Her entire frame trembled with fear but she didn't know where she got the courage to keep talking. "You do whatever is convenient for you with money but you cannot spare some for me to go to school…"

Dreams And Daylight Nightmare
Picture generated using images.ai
"Look out, Henry, there's an alien behind you!" I heard my mother's panicked cry. It Fueled my adrenaline as i swerved quickly, giving a fear-fueled punch that sent the alien staggering a few steps behind. Seizing that precious moment, I ran towards my family with the alien in pursuit behind.
Jumping over fallen people and manoeuvring obstacles, the chaos now was indescribable. Luckily I got to my family's car and jumped into an already opened door from Jamie, my heart pounding. Like an F1 racer, my dad swerved quickly towards the gate and we sped away from the nightmare unfolding on the school field.
