Personas vitamina: personas que te llenan de energía, color y vida

Ayer estuve con una amiga cuyo hijo tiene cáncer. Aunque nuestros numerosos compromisos nos habían impedido vernos, ayer, como le conté, todo se alineó a la perfección para que por fin pudiéramos estar juntas. Desde el primer abrazo, sentimos la necesidad de estar juntas, de hablar, de liberar todo lo que habíamos acumulado durante estos últimos meses. Y eso fue exactamente lo que pasó: hablamos durante más de cuatro horas, lloramos, reímos, pero sobre todo, nos desahogamos por completo; tanto que, al despedirnos, mi amiga me dijo, con un fuerte abrazo y una sonrisa sincera, que yo era su "amiga vitamina". Aunque al principio no lo entendí, al llegar a casa comprendí a qué se refería. El término "persona vitamina" es un concepto desarrollado por la maravillosa psicóloga Marián Rojas Estape, quien afirma que aquellas personas que están dispuestas a escucharnos, que nos consuelan en los momentos más difíciles, que nos salvan cuando creemos que nos morimos, que nos sacan de nuestra tristeza o estrés cotidianos, que alivian nuestro dolor y tristeza, son "personas vitamina". También conocidas como personas medicina: personas que te sanan o te revitalizan.

En mi vida, tengo muchas personas que me inspiran, pero me siento verdaderamente honrada de que mis amigos también me consideren una persona sanadora, alguien en quien pueden confiar, alguien que los hace sonreír y los anima, alguien con quien pueden hablar sin temor a ser juzgados, alguien que siempre tendrá una palabra positiva para ellos, una palabra de aliento y consuelo. Saber que mis amigos se alegran de verme llegar, que comparten sus pensamientos conmigo, que mi sola presencia los calma e inspira, me llena el corazón de pura felicidad, pero también siento una enorme responsabilidad. Toda mi vida he creído en las energías, y siempre he dicho que, así como existen energías buenas, también existen malas. Sabemos que hay personas con una energía terrible y negativa que, en cuanto llegan, lo oscurecen todo, lo vuelven gris y lo llenan de problemas. Personas tóxicas que, con solo una mirada, pueden hacerte marchitar como una pasa, que te juzgan, que buscan el lado negativo de todo, que te contagian no solo de pereza y tristeza, sino también de ira. Son personas que convierten todo en queja, en chisme, y son completamente tóxicas: te agotan y te dejan vacío.

Por otro lado, gracias a Dios, también hay personas con una energía tan increíble que con solo pasar una hora con ellas te sientes mejor. A veces son familiares, pero también pueden ser amigos o compañeros de trabajo. Cada vez que los ves, cada vez que estás con ellos, liberas oxitocina y te sientes feliz, seguro, como si su sola presencia bastara para disipar todas las nubes grises del cielo. Ayer, mientras escuchaba a mi amiga hablar sobre la enfermedad de su hijo y la dejaba llorar, pensaba en lo bien que se siente hablar con alguien, pero sobre todo en lo bien que se siente ser escuchado. Por eso siempre debemos ser la persona que escucha, que sonríe, que ilumina los lugares, que transmite energía, la que saca lo mejor de los demás. Ser el amigo que te gustaría tener cuando tienes un problema. Rodéate de personas así: personas que hacen que tu mundo sea más habitable, seguro y maravilloso.

From the first hug, we felt the need to be together, to talk, to release everything we had accumulated over these past months. And that's exactly what happened: we talked for more than four hours, we cried, we laughed, but most importantly, we poured our hearts out; so much so that when we said goodbye, my friend told me, with a tight hug and a genuine smile, that I was her "vitamin friend." Although at first I didn't understand, when I got home I could see what she meant. The term "vitamin person" is a concept developed by the wonderful psychologist Marián Rojas Estape, who says that those people who are willing to listen to us, who comfort us in the most difficult moments, who save us when we think we're dying, who pull us out of our daily sadness or stress, who soothe our pain and sorrow, are "vitamin people." Also known as medicine people: people who heal or revitalize you. In my life, I have many uplifting people, but I feel truly honored that my friends also consider me a healing person, someone they can trust, someone who makes them smile and cheers them up, someone they can tell anything to without judgment, someone who will always have a positive word for them, a word of encouragement and comfort. Knowing that my friends are happy to see me arrive, that they share their thoughts with me, that my mere presence calms and inspires them, makes my heart swell with pure happiness, but I also feel an enormous responsibility. All my life I've believed in energies, and I've always said that just as there are good energies, there are bad ones. We know there are people with terrible, negative energy, who, as soon as they arrive, make everything dark, gray, and full of problems. Toxic people who, with just a look, can make you shrivel up like a prune, who judge you, who look for the negative side of everything, who infect you not only with laziness and sadness but also with anger. They are people who turn everything into a complaint, a gossip, and are completely radioactive: they drain you and leave you empty. On the other hand, thank God, there are also people with such incredible energy that just spending an hour with them makes you feel better. These people are sometimes family members, but they can also be friends or people you meet at work. Every time you see them, every time you're with them, you release oxytocin and feel happy, safe, as if their mere presence is enough to make all the gray clouds disappear from your sky. Yesterday, while listening to my friend talk about her son's illness and letting her cry, I was thinking about how good it feels to talk to someone, but especially how good it feels to be heard. That's why we should always be the person who listens, who smiles, who brightens places, who transmits energy, the one who brings out the best in others. Surround yourself with people like that: people who make your world more livable, safe, and wonderful.
