Greetings, Friends!
This was me, visualizing for the first time the way I imagine the game space that Western Shores will take, as planned for two players.
As you can see, sometimes I draw as if with my feet instead of using my hands. Nevermind. The plan was to do the job. Job done.
A double exposure of the sketch and one of our more successful watercolor illustrations for the project.
The original is already gone. A gift to a special person.
You can see it Here.
So, what you see here is...
A - The Draft Area
The draft area in the middle with the Draft Deck and the place where rejected cards go on one side...and the Greed Deck on the other side of the draftable cards.
Those are the cards that will, following the game rules, go to the players'decks and/or boards later.
B — Players'Personal Boards
I used the names of a couple of robot characters from movies...for no particular reason. I just felt like it.
Anyway, one of the areas is upside down so let's take a look at the other one.
There's the 6x6 space where the player's map would be developed during the game. The cards that the player would place there as tiles have Terrain Compatibility Requirements. There are four types of terrain — Land; Water; Land-Water; Water-Land. None of them fit the slots market with red X signs so they will remain empty unless a hindering adjacent tile is somehow discarded beforehand(yes, it can be done in the game).
On both sides of the space for the player's map are slots for stacks of cards that the player would use. The player would also hold up to 6 cards in hand. No board space required for that.
Four people should be able to play the game on a single table. The cards will be the size of normal playing cards. That's why they should overlap each other on the player's map and the design has this covered. That's why you can see the slots on the top 5 out of 6 rows as squares.
Crowdfunding the project
The time has come for that and the Hive blockchain is the place to start. Other options will be available soon.
For now...
I have created the account as a fund and it will be set as a beneficiary to receive 50% of the payouts.
The first goal is to fund the illustration process. There will be about 70 unique artworks. Of those, 20 are done. The remainder will take about six more months of work at least.
The total sum we're aiming at is 7,500 USD. Other channels will be used but here's the beginning of it.
Any support counts. Even your feedback through comments.
A gallery with digital rewards for backers, as well as more info about the game, coming soon.
Here's an almost random previous post about the project.
Thank you for being with us!
Yours,
Manol
