If you look at social media of really any sort, there is going to be some sort of beefcake out there that is absolutely a beautiful specimen of muscle-mass and they will have a ton of photos and videos as well as most likely a team of people that handle their social media for them if they get big enough.
These same influencers conveniently sell products that they claim to use and of course, they are very specific brands of products even though basically everyone knows that all of the various fitness supplements that exist out there are generic and not patent-protected so you could buy anyone's brand and it is going to be the same damn thing.
Noel Deyzel is one of the only influencers out there that is actually being honest and has called out all influencers to "stop with the bullshit" because anyone in the game knows that all of these guys are on PED's and especially on steroids. Noel openly admits that he uses steroids and that the form that he has obtained would not be possible without it. I think that basically everyone in the bodybuilding world is very aware of this and in a recent documentary Arnold Schwarzenegger was very open about the fact that he used steroids heavily in his bodybuilding and acting days.
When asked by the documentary makers about how many people he thought were using steroids for the Mr Universe competition Arnold simply laughed and said "everyone!"
On the flip side of things, there are some influencers out there that are being a little too straight forward about their steroid use and even specifically telling teenagers what their exact roid-regimen is. Keeping in mind that steroids have a ton of bad side-effects, this is a very dangerous prospect indeed. It is also illegal in many places to even acquire these things not that this makes any difference. Drugs are easy to get.
So I guess we have to pick our poison. Would you rather have a bodybuilder totally lie to you about these various supplements that they don't actually take, or would you rather have them simply tell you that "yes, I am using steroids and you have to if you want to look like me." I think that most rational people, upon looking at the side effects of steroid use, would probably decide to not use them, regardless of the fact that it is going to give better gains.
The crazy thing about this is that it was brought to the forefront by Pewdiepie of all people. I guess as that guy grows up he is starting to talk about more adult topics rather than just being silly and playing Minecraft all the time.
I think that Pewdiepie is actually a very intelligent person and since his audience is so huge and widespread, he has the ability to shed light on these things. He also called out a number of celebrities including Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson about his claims of not being on steroids or any other PED's but just eats right and puts in the work.
With celebrities the use of PED's is probably even more prevalent because that industry isn't regulated at all. In sports at least there is some form of testing. I don't need testing to realize that someone can't go from 175 lbs of normal sized human to 250 lbs with 135 pounds of shredded muscle in one year without chemical help.
Here's the Noel video that I find so inspiring
If people want to use steroids I say friggin go for it. I'm not interested in it though. Users are probably setting Themselves up for serious health problems later in life but these guys aren't ignorant of this fact. They know this and simply don't care. But if you see some influencer with veiny ridiculous arms talking about how he got that way with creatine, loads of chicken consumption, and protein shakes (conveniently manufactured by his sponsor) you can basically be guaranteed they are lying to you.
I think it is important to have goals in fitness, but they need to be realistic ones and by idolizing a person who has "cheated" in order to get there is going to lead to disappointment and almost certain failure
