Hello everyone!
I can't wait every week to take on the challenge from at Hive Top Chef which is held every week. I'm happy because every week I'm given the opportunity to hone my brilliant idea to make food that fits the theme of each week.
Sometimes, posting food recipes makes us tired of thinking. Many things must be considered, ranging from delicious food that readers will easily remember, beautiful plating, and a lot of time spent taking photos as well as cooking with makeshift tools.
Having a challenge from Hive Top Chef helped me to make food without a guide theme. So that helped me a lot. Especially if the food ingredients from the theme are very easy to find and process into dishes.
For this week, the theme held by #hivetopchef is very easy, namely 'rice'. For Indonesians, rice is a staple food that is always available on the dining table every day. So, this time I want to make a very delicious dessert, made from glutinous rice. This sticky rice was given by my aunt who is a rice farmer. He gave me 2.5 kg of glutinous rice because it was harvest time. I am very grateful because glutinous rice is quite expensive compared to other rice. For 1 kg of glutinous rice, the price is 20,000 IDR.
This time I'm going to make a tala cake. It is called talam cake because in the manufacturing process it uses a tray made of aluminum. And also required a high tray in order to print the cake well.
Curious about the recipe? Let's see the following recipe!
Palm Sugar Tray Cake
Ingredients:
- 500 gr glutinous rice
- 1 grated coconut
- Pandan leaves
- 150 gr brown sugar
- 120 gr Hunkwe flour
- 400 ml of water
- Salt and sugar
- Tray mold
How to make a palm sugar tray cake:
- Soak the glutinous rice for at least 3 hours. Then wash clean.
- Blend the grated coconut, then squeeze and strain.
- Cook glutinous rice with 200 ml of water and 200 ml of liquid coconut milk until the water dries up. During this process, heat the steamer.
- Put the glutinous rice into the tray mold then flatten it so it doesn't fall apart, then put it in the steamer.
- Cook glutinous rice until cooked in a tray, this process takes 20-30 minutes.
- Combine hunkwe flour, salt, palm sugar and 400 ml coconut milk (thick coconut milk mixed with water). Stir until well blended. Can also be filtered so that the dough is easy to cook.
- Cook the dough by stirring it without stopping, so that the dough is soft and does not clump.
- After the dough thickens, put it in a tray that already contains glutinous rice, then cook until the dough hardens, it will take 15-20 minutes.
- Once cooked, leave for an hour or until the mixture cools, then serve!
