Hello everyone!
Today I have guests from out of town. My cousin will stay at my house for 2 days. That's a sign that I will have friends for 2 days apart from my own husband. My cousins came with their 5 year old son, they came from Pekanbaru city which is very far from Medan city. They came by bus between provinces, taken for 16 hours. If traffic jams occur, it may take up to 20 hours.
He came all the way from Pekanbaru to take care of his land certificate which he bought near my house. He said the land he bought was used by local residents and used as land to plant cassava. He was very upset because it was used without his permission and knowledge. So it is better for him to sell the land and maybe he will use the money to buy land which is close to his house in Pekanbaru.
For 2 days at my house, usually my cousin likes to request some food. He used to live at my mother's house and became a temporary member of our family. His parents entrusted him to stay at my parents' house because he studied at one of the best universities in North Sumatra. So, he really likes the specialties of this area. So that every time he went to Medan, he would definitely ask me to cook food that he rarely encountered in Pekanbaru.
Before he came, I asked him what he wanted to cook. He said he really missed my mother's stir-fried tofu bean sprouts. So the tofu in Medan is very different from the tofu in other areas. The tofu here is thicker and has a dense composition, so the taste is also very different from the others. In fact, the tofu is very different between cities, especially since we are from different provinces.
So I used to occasionally buy tofu in the Lubuk Pakam city area, I bought some and immediately fried it, it also tasted different, a bit sour.
By the way, this time I want to share a simple recipe that I cooked to welcome my cousin. This is a recipe I got from my mother, before she died, she really liked to teach me how to cook. So many recipes that I know. Understandably, my mother is a woman who loves to cook, and her cooking is often a crowd favourite, because she sells all the food she cooks with love.
