Hello foodie friends,
How are you all? I hope you are happy and healthy. Today, I am sharing a recipe with you made from Indian gooseberries called "awle ka Halwa." It is not only delicious but also quite nutritious.
During these winters, if you haven't started consuming amla yet, now is the right time. Before the winter season sets in, you can prepare amla in various forms like murabba, candy, powder, pickle, etc., and store them. In this season, many households also enjoy amla halwa. Grandmothers often recommend eating a tablespoon of amla halwa every morning. Consuming amla provides the body with energy. Eating amla halwa in the morning enhances the body's immune system. Amla contains antioxidant properties and is beneficial for bones due to the presence of vitamin C. For children who do not consume milk for calcium, giving them a spoon of amla halwa every morning can be helpful. Amla aids in strengthening the bones.
To make this, you don't need many ingredients; here's what you'll need:
Ingredients:
- Indian gooseberries (Anwala) - 7-8
- Clarified butter (Ghee) - 2 or 3 tablespoons
- Sugar - 200 grams
- Dry fruits of your choice (I've used almonds and cashews)
Recipe:
Step 1:
Start by washing the Indian gooseberries, then put them in a pressure cooker with 2-3 cups of water. Steam them until they are soft enough to mash.
Step 2:
Let them cool for a while, then grind them in a jar.
Step 3:
In a pan, heat ghee, add the ground Indian gooseberries, and roast them well. After about 5 minutes, you'll notice a change in color.
Step 4:
Add sugar 250 gram (or jaggery if you prefer) and keep stirring. Once the sugar is mixed well, add the ground dry fruits. Stir until the mixture reaches a halwa consistency.
Enjoy this delicious halwa every morning. I hope you like my recipe.
