Lately, my family is always worried about the increasingly expensive basic food prices in the market, I always take the initiative to advise them to consume meat-free food at home. Apart from being healthy and the availability of plant-based needs is also very abundant in the garden so that it reduces the cost of spending for daily meals, I am very grateful for this.
My father is a diabetic for many years, he always does taboos every day, but sometimes his love of eating various types of food makes him unable to control the sugar levels he consumes. In order to stabilize the sugar level he was suffering from, I took the initiative to cook rice using telang flower which is the flower of the pea seed plant which has many benefits.
Initially I got the inspiration for natural coloring from pea flowers because I saw many hivers friends use this flower as an ingredient to create beautiful colors in their cooking. Immediately my instincts as a person who loves the world of cooking want to know the benefits of this flower, I immediately looked for information on the internet about the benefits of this flower, one of which is to stabilize blood sugar levels in the body. I am very happy that this will be an alternative to add natural remedies for my parents at home.
After getting inspiration for cooking, I had difficulty getting this flower in my area, but who would have thought a few days ago I visited a friend's house and I saw a telang flower tree that had grown abundantly and bloomed heavily. At first I wanted to ask for a few flowers, but I was surprised by the mother of my friend, giving her a box of dried telang flowers, I was very happy and grateful to her.
Well, when I brought home these flowers I wanted to present something special to my family. We will start cooking !!
Ingredients Used
1 cup rice
15 dried pea flower seeds
1 cup water
50 grams of corn vermicelli
1 potato
1 carrot
1 onion
1 clove of garlic
1 stalk celery
The Making Procedure
Step 1
In preparing blue rice, I first prepare 1 cup of water and then start cooking until the water boils.
Step 2
After the water boils, I add 15 dried pea flower seeds, so here I only use a little pea flower, because I don't want the rice to be too thick in color. If you want a lighter color, you can increase the number of flowers.
Step 3
Cook the telang flower until it turns blue in its entirety, after that I filter the dregs from the flower.
Step 4
I wash the rice, then add the boiled water of the pea flower that has been cooked earlier. Cook according to the measure of cooking rice as usual. Well, because the rice I use is a little hard, so I add 1:1 blue water and rice.
Step 5
Cook the rice in your rice cooker or on a manual stove. After the rice is cooked, cool the rice first.
Step 6
Next I cut all the vegetables that I have prepared, cut them according to your taste, here I cut them lengthwise.
Step 7
After I cut all the ingredients, then I started to saute the onions first, stir-fry until fragrant and wilted.
Step 8
Then I put in the vegetables that I had previously chopped and corn vermicelli, stir-fry until fragrant and cooked.
Step 9
Next I add spring onions and a tablespoon of salt or according to your taste.
Step 10
After the vegetables were cooked, I started to add the cooled rice, and started to stir until well mixed. Cook until everything is combined and cooked perfectly.
To make fried rice, I suggest you don't add too much oil, this will affect the texture and taste of the fried rice that you serve. In addition to excessive oil, the thing that needs to be considered in cooking fried rice is to cool the rice first because the texture of the fried rice will be better if cold rice is used with a rice texture that is not mushy.
Serving Method
I served it in a plate of blue rice with mixed vegetables and corn noodles. For the vegetables that I serve, I deliberately serve them separately with rice so that when my family eats this dish it looks interesting and easy.
The taste of the blue fried rice is savory and delicious, the color sensation of the telang flower doesn't change the taste or even the texture of the fried rice. In addition, the deliciousness of the corn noodles and vegetables adds to the taste of this fried rice. I'm so glad this is a perfectly prepared meal.
