I'm still sharing the photos I took last year on my bike commute to work. It's almost the end... But today I got my bike out of the garage again, pumped up the tires, greased the chain and checked the brakes. I'm ready for spring 😀. In Montreal's Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood, I came across this tribute to artist Scan, gone too soon but still so respected on the streets of Montreal.
Je suis toujours en train de partager les photos prises l'année dernière lors mes trajets en vélo pour aller au travail. C'est bientôt la fin... car aujourd'hui j'ai ressorti mon vélo du garage, gongler les pneus, graisser la chaine et vérifier les freins. Je suis prêt pour la belle saison 😀. Dans le quartier d'Hochelaga-Maisonneuve à Montréal, j'étais tombé sur cet hommage à l'artiste Scan, parti trop tôt mais toujours autant respecté dans les rues de Montréal.

Casper
As I said in the introduction, Scan aka Alexandre Veilleux was an artist who left his mark on StreetArt in Montreal. He died in 2017 of cancer but is still highly respected in Montreal. His lettering and other works are almost completely intact. For more info on this artist you can check out StreetArt #312. Here Casper has paid tribute to the artist with the use of his Mr Can Do It character. I really like the spray cap with wings 🙏.
Comme je le disais en introduction, Scan aka Alexandre Veilleux est un artiste qui a marqué le StreetArt à Montréal. Il est mort en 2017 d'un cancer mais il est toujours très respecté à Montréal. Just beyond the lettering, there's a "wasteland" full of lettering, mostly by the CEK crew. On the same building as the Scan tribute, there's this skull surrounded by letters, very nice work. I couldn't find the artist, although the style rings a bell. Hard to find the name, it's happening more and more often 😤.
Juste après le lettrage, il y a un terrain vague rempli de lettrages surtout du collectif CEK. Sur le même batiment que l'hommage à Scan, il y a cette tête de mort entouré de lettres. Je n'ai pas trouvé l'artiste bien que le style me dit quelque chose. Difficile de retrouver le nom, cela m'arrive de plus en plus souvent 😤.
On the next building, there's more lettering with Bhar in green (top right) and also Deep (also present on the vacant lot).
Sur le batiment suivant, il y a encore des lettrages avec Bhar en vert (haut droit) et aussi Deep (aussi présent sur le terrain vague).
Time is Gold
We close with Time Is Gold, another reference to Scan and his latest project in 2017 carried out surrounded by his friends (see CCC's Street Art Contest #125 & StreetArt #573). Unfortunately, he didn't get to see the final result, reminding us that Time is Gold. We forget this all too often. So enjoy life...
Nous terminons avec Time Is Gold, autre référence à Scan et son dernier projet en 2017 réalisé entouré de ses amis (voir CCC's Street Art Contest #125 & StreetArt #573). Malheureusement, il n'a pas pu voir le résultat final rappelant ainsi que le Temps est de l'Or. On l'oublie trop souvent. Alors profitez de la vie...
