They say the camera doesn't lie, but for me, it was the mirror—or rather, a specific shirt.
I recently caught a glimpse of my side profile while getting dressed, and let’s just say my stomach was making a much more "prominent" appearance than I remembered. It was a wake-up call. Years ago, all I had to do to drop a few kilos was eat a little less for a week and the weight would practically fall off.
Apparently, the "scales of time" have shifted. My metabolism isn't what it used to be, and my lifelong weakness for chocolate and all things sweet has finally caught up with me.
Tracking the Comeback
To get serious, I’ve started monitoring my weight and intake using a tool I know best—one I built myself. I’m currently developing an Android app for my wife and I to track our progress.
As you can see from the charts below, I haven't even hit the 30-day mark yet. It's a work in progress, both the app and my habits! You’ll notice some gaps in the data from a recent visit to my sister’s place; I’ll admit, I was a bit too shy to sit there logging meal info while we were visiting.
The "Slump"
The frustrating part? Even though I have completely cut out the sweets and chocolate, the graph shows my weight is barely budging. It feels like I’m doing the work, but the results are stuck in low gear.
I know I’m not the only one who has faced this. Have any of you had a similar experience where "eating better" just wasn't enough to move the needle initially? How do you get over this early slump and find the motivation to push through when the scale refuses to move?
I’d love to hear your tips or similar stories in the comments!
