As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, the plan was to get up early and hike before the heat. Amazingly, I did just that! We were up, showered and out the door by 7:45 AM. It was almost cold when compared to the heat we had been hiking in the past two days! 😅. It didn’t take long, though to warm up!
Things were looking promising until we got to Bear Hollow as that’s when the mosquitos decided I was breakfast. I looked down at one point to see a half a dozen or more trying to land to feed! 😳 I grabbed the picardin and sprayed myself really well - so much for that shower I’d had! Anyway, it worked.
We continued on and just at the beginning of Buckhorn Loop, this was the view for the day.
We headed around the bend to Towhee Ridge and stopped for a while to rest. I don’t know about everybody else, but I apparently don’t do morning hikes well. I almost stumble along the trail as if I’ve had one too many. It’s like I’m not fully awake and coordinated for the day. It’s really a weird feeling.
offered to carry me for a bit, but I thanked her and told her I’d just keep on stumbling along. She took her respite on top the whiskey barrel at the picnic table.
All along the trail, there thimble berries which can be eaten. I will have to admit that until I’d verified they were edible, I’ve not tried them. I might have to soon.
We did go shopping in the afternoon which was an adventure as always.
Tomorrow is my Monday, however the doc is on a mini vacation and will be gone all week. I have a fill in doc for Friday. This will afford my completing all of my work 😎
That’s gonna be it for now. Keep on steppin’! Take care and have a good night! 👣🥰🤗😎👍☕️💪🐑💕
