My legs are huge, particularly my quads. I’ve been asked many times why I train legs so hard, and I usually give different answers for some reason. Today was leg day, and I actually trained with one of the gym fellas, he was gasping. Below are a couple reasons why I go hard on leg days, and why you should too.
Well, there you have it. These are just a few of the many reasons I go hard on leg days. I take my leg days seriously, and so should you. Learn proper technique, train hard, and crush it. Till next time.
- The legs are the biggest muscle group in your body — that’s a fact. They make up the majority of your total muscle mass, so it’s important to train them properly. Because they’re the largest muscle group, they recruit almost your entire body. In many ways, leg training feels like full-body training and burns more calories than training smaller muscle groups.
- It’s a mental battle — legs don’t naturally get a “pump” the way your arms or upper body do, and they’re painful to train. Showing up and putting in the work consistently builds serious resilience.
- A balanced physique — legs aren’t very showy, but neglecting them completely throws your physique off. The disproportion becomes obvious. Strong, well-developed legs balance out your entire look.
- Strong legs can help you live longer — numerous studies show that leg strength is directly linked to a longer, healthier life. Leg muscle mass and strength, especially in the thighs and quads, are strong indicators of longevity, cognitive health, and metabolic health, even more predictive than overall muscle mass.
