Each proposal from the community I feel is very much related to my thoughts, my way of life and what I want in it right now.
I tell you that, coincidentally, I have already started a project about three weeks ago to recycle several things I have at home. For example, my husband has several shirts that he no longer wears, there are several Jean fabrics that are no longer used and scraps of fabric from different fabrics that I have left over from my sewing projects and I don't want to waste.
Every week I love to sew and design beautiful things in my mind to continue creating.
I have already managed to recycle two things, the first was a men's shirt that belonged to my husband and I turned it into a ladies shirt and the second was a cover for my sewing machine using the fabric of a sheet. Despite the challenges I am quite satisfied with the result, plus I feel good about creating it.
What does this have to do with my minimalist lifestyle?
It has a lot to do with it. I'll mention three things:
♻️ As I said in the first recycling post I did it was precisely because of my simple lifestyle that I try to make the most of the things I have beyond wishing for what I don't have or what I can't have at the moment.
♻️ Every year the amount of discarded clothes and the pollution caused by it is huge (this does not disintegrate so easily) so, I can help the planet by reusing it and giving new life to the garment.
♻️ Sometimes what we have and do not want or do not want to discard, is the need of others, it is what someone else is perhaps asking inside to have, they need it to live, to warm up, to go to work, to dress their children, in short.... For me, it's like a little bit of raising awareness and creating it.
Honestly, this topic of recycling has not been part of me throughout my life because I had not really considered myself a very skilled person for crafts or manual work, however, as time has passed, and as I have taken so much love to sewing, this has allowed my mind to think of new and different designs, ways to save, to take advantage and yield what I have while I continue making beautiful things.
I have several projects in mind that I will surely be sharing with you soon, for now I have focused on reusing the used garments I have at home and I already have the projects I will do with each of them.
My greatest success in this aspect, although for me, according to my abilities, sometimes represents a great challenge, is to make the garments I have already made from something that is already made, transform, renew and create from that.
My biggest failure could be not to keep trying, to be disappointed with the first attempts and to forget my ideas in a dungeon. That happened to me many times. That's why I tell myself: "For now, just keep your energies focused on the most important.... The simplest and most conscious" 💜
