Whenever I create content about food recipes, I always think about food plating for photoshoots.
I will share step by step plating "Pumpkin Porridge"
For the recipe and how to cook "Pumpkin Porridge" you can see on my previous blog HERE: @anggreklestari/an-original-vegan-recipe-pumpkin-porridge-with-palm-sugar-sauce
Using Flat Plate for Addition of Details
I use a bowl for serving pumpkin porridge. Then I stick to the flat plate to complete the plating.
These come in handy for embellishing photography and also these flat plates can be used as trays and laying out additional photo properties or for placing spoons.
Added property of plants and flowers
I added small plants and flowers to avoid gaps in the photo background. I chose real plants and flowers because I like themes related to nature.
Searching For Best View
I changed the setup of the plate to make sure it will be the right place to create a nice photo result.
Make sure the shadow is not to be bold in the photo results.
Adding Food Toppings Carefully
Add food toppings when shooting and all properties are ready.
This is to prevent the main food object from changing shape due to the long exposure to the topping.
Here I added the palm sugar topping.
I also added coconut milk to give it a less boring detail.
Then a little finishing touch with the mint leaves.
Those were some steps on how I set up food plating before I took a photo session for my cooking.
