After packing my things in the yard of the "Brauner Hirsch" inn, I moved to the former kitchen of the inn, the setting of the film "Grand Budapest Hotel".

were still working on their pictures, so there was still some time to walk through the building and watch all the other artists at work. There is enough inspiration for several light painting sessions in this huge winding building. I hope to get access to this location again.

Nachdem ich im Hof des Gasthauses "Brauner Hirsch" meine Sachen zusammengepackt habe, wechselte ich in die ehemalige Küche des Gasthofes, der Kulisse des Films "Grand Budapest Hotel". und arbeiteten noch an ihren Bildern, so blieb also noch etwas Zeit entspannt durch das Gebäude zu gehen und allen anderen Künstlern bei der Arbeit zuzuschauen. In diesem riesigen verwinkelten Bau gibt es genügend Anregungen für mehrere Lightpainting-Sessions. Ich hoffe nochmal Zutritt zu dieser Location zu bekommen.

But I had already set my plan for this evening. I wanted to photograph the vaults with a fractal filter. In the picture above, I lit the scene with a yellow-orange CONVOY S2+. I positioned a fractal filter in front of the camera. As a first picture idea, I didn't think the result was bad, but there was more to it than that. In the title picture I used the same structure as described above. In addition, I used my rotation tool with an Ants On A Melon RGB CRITTER and an oval DIY blade. I rotated the camera around the optical axis in 90° steps to create the light figure. That wasn't a good idea, because I happened to have positioned the tool in such a way that a camera rotation of 180° would have achieved the same effect.
Für diesen Abend hatte ich meinen Plan aber schon festgelegt. Die Gewölbe wollte ich mit einem Fractal-Filter ablichten.
Im Bild oben leuchtete ich die Szene mit einer gelb-orangenen CONVOY S2+ aus. Vor die Kamera positionierte ich ein Fractal-Filter. Als erste Bildidee fand ich das Ergebnis nicht schlecht, aber da ging noch mehr.
Im Titelbild verwendete ich den gleichen Aufbau wie oben beschrieben. Ergänzend kam dort mein Rotationstool mit einer Ants On A Melon RGB CRITTER und einem ovalen DIY-Blade zu Einsatz. Die Kamera drehte ich in 90° -Schritten um die optische Achse, um die Lichtfigur zu kreieren. Das war keine gute Idee, denn das Tool hatte ich zufälligerweise genau so ausgerichtet, dass eine Kamerarotation um 180° den gleichen Effekt erzielt hätte.

In the picture above I let the camera rotate. I illuminated the room, rotated the camera 180° around the optical axis and illuminated the room a second time.
In the image below, I first captured a light figure using my rotation tool as described above. Removed the tool from the set and performed a camera rotation as described above. I would have liked to repeat this shot again, since the light figure is a bit pale in the picture. Unfortunately, we ran out of time that evening and had to leave the building.
Im Bild oben ließ ich die Kamera rotieren. Ich leuchtete den Raum aus, rotierte die Kamera um 180° um die optische Achse und leuchtete den Raum ein zweites mal aus.
Im Bild unten nahm ich zuerst eine Lichtfigur, wie oben beschrieben, mit Hilfe meines Rotationstools auf. Entfernte das Tool aus dem Set und führte eine Kamera-Rotation wie oben beschrieben aus. Diese Aufnahme hätte ich gern noch einmal wiederholt, da die Lichtfigur etwas blass im Bild zu sehen ist. Leider war die Zeit für uns an diesem Abend abgelaufen und wir mussten das Gebäude verlassen.

On the following picture you can see the scene without effects. I had tested my lighting concept here. With the tiles and windows it wasn't that easy.
Auf dem folgenden Bild seht ihr die Szene ohne Effekte. Ich hatte hier mein Konzept der Beleuchtung getestet. Mit den Fliesen und Fenstern war es nicht ganz so einfach.

The Tools
In the following pictures I would like to introduce you to the tools that were used here. In the first picture you can see a fractal filter on a tripod in front of the camera.
Auf den folgenden Bildern möchte ich euch die Tools vorstellen, die hier zum Einsatz kamen. Im ersten Bild seht ihr einen Fraktal-Filter auf einem Stativ vor der Kamera.

To illuminate the room, I used the CONVOY S2+ with yellow-orange LED shown in the picture below.
Um den Raum auszuleuchten, benutzte ich, die im Bild unten zu sehende CONVOY S2+ mit gelb-orangener LED.

What Is Light Painting?
Light painting is a unique art form. As a rule, the darkness is illuminated by the artist with various light sources and traces of light are painted into the picture with various lighting tools. Various techniques are used, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. When using ND filters, this technique can also be used in daylight. All images were taken during a single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cropping and possibly adjusting the white balance, the images are not processed on the computer.
Lichtmalerei ist eine einzigartige Kunstform. In der Regel wird die Dunkelheit mit diversen Lichtquellen vom Künstler ausgeleuchtet und Lichtspuren mit diversen Lichtwerkzeugen ins Bild gemalt. Dabei kommen verschiedene Techniken zum Einsatz, wie Kamerarotation oder andere Bewegungen der Kamera während der Belichtung. Die kreativen Möglichkeiten sind nahezu unbegrenzt. Bei Einsatz von ND-Filtern kann diese Technik auch bei Tageslicht angewand werden. Alle Bilder wurden während einer einzigen Belichtung aufgenommen. Abgesehen vom Entrauschen, Schärfen, Beschneiden und eventuellem Anpassen des Weißabgleichs werden die Bilder nicht am Computer bearbeitet.
