Hello everyone!
I often create & try all kind of recipes like healthy energy bars, granola bars, raw superfood energy balls, no bake bliss balls and on and on. Basically raw and healthy snacks which I love to make and have them in my fridge, waiting for the moment when my little one comes and asks for something sweet. Hehh!
Because I want to be consistent both posting in the community and the blockchain in general, I did a little sorting in here and I found this:
Nuts & Dates Raw Energy Balls
They look good, don't you think?
Actually they were so sooooo good. I think that was because I accidentaly put a "little" to much cacao but I'm glad I did. This combo was great! I liked the result so much. And I don't always say that. There are times when I'm not very happy with how they turned out. Still, this time I remember being delicious!
They are PERFECT for kids! Nuts and Dates together are a good source of energy. Ofc there are natural sugars coming from dates but it's not only sugar. Dates are very nutritious and high in fiber, also nuts are super nutritious too. They contain good fats and proteins which are so important for our brain, blood vessels and health in general.
You'll need only a few ingredients for this recipe:
- 15 hydrated dates
I used Medjool dates, which are my favorite because they are meaty and fleshy. - 230g Mix of nuts (walnuts, cashew, hazelnuts, almonds)
You can replace this with whatever you have at home, it doesnt have to be a whole mix. One type of nuts works too. - cinnamon 1Tbsp
- cacao powder 2-3 Tbsp
- almond butter 1Tbsp
- peanut butter 1Tbsp
- coconut flakes (optional)
Feel free to replace the butter with your favorite or use only one of the two. I wanted to have the flavor of peanut butter and almond butter too, plus the almond butter is much healthier. I didnt try it with coconut butter, at least not this recipe.
The measurements for this recipe are aproximate, you can adjust it if you consider it's needed.
You need a food processor.
The instructions are almost not required. It's so easy to make. 10 minutes and you're done.
Don't forget to put the dates in water one hour before. Soaked dates is the secret. They will become plump, juicy and soft. After one hour, strain them well.
Add all the nuts in a food processor. Pulse until they are crumbled, bot not to fine, like a flour. Take a look at the photo down below.
Add dates, cacao powder and cinnamon. Pulse until they all have mixed up and you can no longer distinguish the dates.
Add almond butter and peanut butter. With a few pulses, mix everything. Process until mixture is well combined and sticking together. It's done.
Start forming the "dough" into small bliss balls. And then roll 'em in coconut flakes.
You need to keep them in the fridge and take them out only when eating. They are kind of buttery because all of the nuts and the two butters. They tend to be greasy, oily, fatty, unctuous at room temperature. And that's totally understandable.
This is not the case with every bliss balls recipe, It's just this because it has a high percentage of oil/butter/nuts.
Store them in the fridge in a container.
That would be all, friends. 💜
I guess I don't have to mention that this is a recipe both for kids and adults. Feel free to adjust it the way you like it.
My kid loves it and I definitely should make another batch these days. It's been some time since I last made some of these!
Stay healthy,
missdeli 💜
