I was planning to bake this again tomorrow and I remembered I made the post last year. However, it seems I forgot to actually shared it with you guys :D
This is a traditional Slavic pastry.
I had trouble with poppy seeds as I don't have a coffee grinder and they don't sell ground seeds anywhere here. So I used some hot milk and a blender. Blending seeds dry didn't work. I blended for quite some time and then I additionally cooked the mixture.
I followed a recipe from a book and I shared it in the end, by Branka Vlahovic, but it's in Croatian. There are many variations of the recipe, and it's originally called Makovnjaca and Orehnjaca.
This is the closest to the recipe I used that I could find online. Sadly the auto translate is rather bad. Where it says "speech" it's actually supposed to be wallnuts. Mak means poppy seeds. The cake was quite hard to make and even harder for me to translate. However, there are a lot of nice recipes online for poppy seed rolls.

I made double of the recipe, the good thing is the rolls can last for a few days.
I used 2 whole eggs and 2 egg yolks, instead of only yolks, and a little less milk. I don't have many other uses for egg whites. If anyone makes a vegan version of this, please share a link, I'd love to check it out!
Thank you for checking out ^^
