Today, the library was a bit chaotic. Not only are we dealing with the return of after-school invasions, but it was also a big day for courier deliveries. The district rotates collections of books, DVDs, and audiobooks to refresh the collections for our browsers every couple months, and today we got a lot of DVDs plus a big box of books in addition to the usual assortment of interlibrary loans for our patrons or getting back items we had sent out. It was about double our typical load for a Friday, and we were down by one staff member at our little branch due to sickness.
After work, I took a look through the Mother Thing's flowers in the garden before cold nights eventually lead to an inevitable killing frost. I wasn't planning a photography post, but then I saw this grasshopper on a large flower and decided it needed to be captured digitally.
I don't know what the flower is. I'm not a flower guru, even though I think it's something she got in a seed packet from the library last spring.
This shot sparked the idea to go ahead and post something light and fun before I dive into the serious subject of tomorrow's grim anniversary. We need to remember life and growth, too. The political world isn't what matters. It is a death cult, not a path to progress.
Enough soapbox. Back to pictures. This flower was hard to shoot because the wind started to pick up and it repeatedly danced away before my phone could focus.
These two turned out OK, but you can see the difference in the camera's "smart" settings shot to shot. Another was too blurry to bother sharing, but smaller flowers beneath it seem reasonably in focus, so I cropped that corner:
That done, I decided it was time to make some food for myself. Calzone experiment! I am firmly in the "pineapple belongs on pizza" camp, and made my calzones with diced ham and pineapple tidbits. I used Daiya cheese substitute and a mix of tomato sauce with added garlic salt, garlic powder, italian seasoning mix, and instant minced onions.
All told, not bad. I rate my creation 4 out of 5 stars. Yay me! I really should pay myself more. Too bad it's not in the budget this year.
