What was the first mental activity you experienced today as soon as you opened your eyes?
When I was in high school I studied Fernando Pessoa’s poetry; at the time I could not quite grasp what his poetry meant. 18 years later I remember binge reading his poetry once again and totally getting it.
If all that happens when you wake up is thinking about everything to get done throughout the day or you are thinking about what happened yesterday, then I suggest a very simple exercise when you open your eyes every morning:
Practice contemplating what is present at that moment. Starting with senses: touch smell, taste, hearing, sight.
Even if is just for one 1 minute
