We are currently spending and experiencing our first Christmas in the Philippines. For many Filipinos, this is certainly the most important celebration of the whole year, and the first Christmas lights, full of anticipation, can already be seen here in September(!).
We had already been invited to numerous Christmas parties beforehand (for example those of my daughter's school, the construction company on whose premises our condo is located and Filipino friends).
Now, at Christmas itself, however, we tend to take it easy, and you won't find anything typical of Christmas like Christmas trees, presents or sweet pastries in our home. At least we had a delicious, if rather atypical, Christmas dinner consisting of cannelloni and salad.
Apart from that, during the Christmas holidays, we either cozy up at home or go for walks in Tagaytay's often comparatively chilly and foggy December weather.
What I am thinking about, however, is the last Christmas I spent with my brother at my father's house - a wonderful memory and part of the process of leaving Germany, which I would like to preserve in the form of a post today.
Before I get to the pictures, I would like to wish all readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025!

Derzeit verbringen und erleben wir gerade unser erstes Weihnachten auf den Philippinen. Für viele Filipinos ist das sicherlich das wichtigste Fest im ganzen Jahr, und bereits im September(!) sind hier erste, voller Vorfreude angebrachte Weihnachtsbeleuchtungen auszumachen.
Im Vorfeld wurden wir bereits auf zahlreiche Weihnachtsfeiern eingeladen (z. B. derjenigen der Schule meiner Tochter, der Baufirma, auf deren Gelände sich unser Condo befindet, sowie von philippinischen Freunden).
Jetzt, an Weihnachten selbst, schieben wir allerdings eine eher ruhige Kugel, und Weihnachtstypisches wie Christbäume, Geschenke oder süßes Gebäck sucht man bei uns vergeblich. Immerhin gab es ein leckeres, wenn auch eher untypisches, aus Cannelloni und Salat bestehendes Weihnachtsessen.
Ansonsten machen wir es uns während der Weihnachtsfeiertage entweder zu Hause gemütlich oder Spaziergänge in Tagaytays oft vergleichsweise kühl-nebligem Dezember-Wetter.
Woran ich aber denken muss, sind die letzten, zusammen mit meinem Bruder bei meinem Vater verbrachten Weihnachten - eine schöne Erinnerung und Teil des Abschiedsprozesses aus Deutschland, die ich heute in Form eines Posts konservieren möchte.
