Ingredients:
For breadsticks
- 1 ¼ cup flour, plus more for kneading
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
For topping
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 tablespoon grated parmesan
- Preheat oven to 450℉. Combine flour, baking powder, basil, sugar, garlic powder, garlic, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Add milk in three additions, stirring until soft dough forms.
- On a clean, dry surface, spread a light layer of flour and rub a small amount of flour on palms. Place the dough ball on the floured surface and knead about 4-6 times.
- Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a thin rectangle. Cut the rectangle in to strips about 2 centimeters wide.
- Construct the breadsticks by loosely braiding three of the strips together. Place the prepared breadsticks on a baking sheet and set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine all of the topping ingredients together, stir well.
- Coat each breadstick with a light layer of the topping, using either a pastry brush or the tip of your finger.
- Bake for 15 minutes, breadsticks will be golden brown when done baking. Serve warm with tomato sauce for dipping.
