Fire Noodle cray cray
You must have encountered one of those “Fire Noodle Challenge” videos while browsing around the internet. Buldak Bokkeum Myun, which is commonly referred to as 'Fire Noodle', is an instant noodle product from South Korean food retailer Samyang Food started in 2012 but have become more and more popular not just because all the YouTubers hype it up so much but it's actually really yummy! (For my own liking that is).
Nowadays, going anywhere in the States, all the Asian stores carry at least one of the flavors of these fire noodles. As mentioned, it's crazy popular and it's so delicious! I first tried it when I was in Thailand. Started with the original flavor with the black package. After being under a rock for a while, just recently, I have noticed, there are a lot more flavors coming out and one of those is this NUCLEAR FIRE NOODLE which they claim to be 2x spicy!! Holy!! The regular one I already need a lot of water along with the meal.
Nuclear fire noodle Scoville units
The regular one has approx. 8000 Scoville units and this new version with Red package come with approx 10k Scoville units. Doesn't sound like it would be so much spicier, does it? I have tried it first time on my challenge video and oh man, It's burning bad!!
Is it actually that spicy though?
Thai chili (50,000 to 100,000 SHU) is actually one of the spiciest chili out there and I even tried eating habanero (100,000–350,000 SHU) with no problem handling it. How come it burn real bad with just 10,000 Scoville units? My boyfriend thinks it's just the oil in the sauce that holds the spiciness and keeps it on your lips while eating, like, really bad! Burn baby burn!
Final thoughts
Final thought, I actually prefer the regular one in the black packaging. That one is a good amount of spiciness and it's a good pain. This one is a bit too much suffering. We're almost dead! Not to mention the situation in the bathroom the next morning #lol
A lot more Samyang to come :)
There are still a lot more flavors I bought and still waiting for the right timing to consume. For sure will be sharing some thoughts on these as I'm so crazy about this instant noodle brand. Its products are so DELICIOUS!!!
Fire noodle, yay or nay??
Me : always yay!
