The last guild brawl of the Bearded Beavers
Since I was not able to play many games, the main in game happening was the brawl of our guild the Bearded Beavers.
Again the Beavers took the 2nd place in the brawl against tough competition
We took the 2nd place with 31 wins and 27 losses = 53.4 % win rate.
1st place was clearly earned by the Cardinals who had a really strong lineup and 45 wins and only 13 losses = 77.6 % win rate.
3rd place was given to Silence behind the Moon with 25 wins and 20 losses = 55.6 % win rate.
Here you can see how important it is to fill all Frays (battle slots) with a guild player. Even though we had a lower win rate than Silence behind the Moon we managed to win more games.
Congratulations to our Top 3 guild players. With their 18 wins they were responsible for nearly 60 % of all our wins and so paved our way to 2nd place.
About my personal performance we should not talk to long. I had again a Fray where only Untamed cards where allowed. I rented some from the market, but was not able to bring them to good use. I addition I encountered gladiators in 2 games which made it even more difficult.

This one was very one sided. Earthquake and two gladiators together with the Phantom of the Abyss killed me already after 3 rounds. I thought about renting the Phantom as well, but decided against it, because of its high mana cost.

I do not know what I did here in my lineup. Poison and Earthquake are just killing me. Kron the Undying is for sure the best possible card you can have in this scenario.

This one was really close. At the end of round 3 I was thinking I will win this one. Than the gladiator killed my Bone Golem and Bloodlust made her invincible.
Hopefully a Gladiator Booster after the next battle
I got 877 Merits for my incredible performance. So now I need another 569 to get my first gladiator booster. I hope this will happen in the next brawl and I can show you the opened booster on Sunday.
Market update - 5 days until the General Sale
We are 5 days before the start of the Chaos Legion General Sale. Since Saturday I am exchanging DEC into Credits to be able to buy booster packs. The market was quite volatile in the last days, so its time for some update on my "General Sale readiness".
Decline of Token value seems stopped - DEC exchange leads to losses
Following our last update from 9th of January DEC fell even further on the 10th. For god sake since yesterday the complete crypto market seems to turn around. Ethereum is rising again and so is Hive, SPS and DEC. Over the last 5 days I bought 375,000 Credits using my DEC at the following cost:
8th of January: 18,778 DEC
9th of January: 19,503 DEC
10th of January: 21,547 DEC
11th of January: 19,855 DEC
12th of January: 19,122 DEC
For the 375,000 Credits (375 $) I exchanged 98,805 DEC so on average I got 0.0038 $ per DEC.
To buy these DEC I spend on average 0.00485 $ which leads to a realized loss of 0.00105 $ per DEC or 103.75 $.
In addition to this realized loss there is currently an unrealized loss for my remaining 196,249 DEC of 206.06 $, which will be partly realized in the next days while buying additional Credits.
**Overall **this sums up to a loss of 309.81 $.
When I use the FIFO method (first in first out) there would be some swith from unrealized to realized, since my first 22k of DEC were bought above 0,005 $ per DEC.
Additional SPS income is not compensating for the DEC losses
On the other hand by buying these DEC and transferring them into the game I got additional SPS from the daily SPS Airdop.
On the 31st of December I had 684 SPS. Through the Airdrop and staking rewards I would have gotten 3 SPS per day. So without the additional DEC this would have led to 36 additional SPS or a total of 720 SPS by today.
**Today **I am owning 1.044 SPS. So the additional DEC caused an increase of my SPS over the last 12 days of 324 SPS. On the current market price of 0.177 $ per SPS this equals to 57.35 $.
This does by far not compensate for the losses I currently have with my DEC. Even if SPS will rise in the next month, I would have had more success by keeping the money in a stable coin like BUSD or HBD and bought the credits on the start of the General Sale.
Any learning from this speculation?
I have several learning from this speculation:
- Have time - Do only invest in speculative assets if you are not forced to sell them within the next future.
- Take care of volatility - When planing a speculative investment do not underestimate the volatility of the asset you are investing in.
- Do not underestimate the risk! - Calculate the possibly gains and put them against the possible losses.
- Do not get (too) greedy - Assets which fell in price and are "cheap" can still fall even more
The possible gain on additional SPS made me blind for the clear language the DEC chart spoke over the last weeks and months. I thought DEC wont fall any deeper (at least not that deep), even though I knew about the general stress the financial markets are currently in. This was a bad preparation for an investment of more than 1.000 €.
Is there any adaption to my DEC strategy before the General Sale?
Since I am of the opinion that DEC will loose most of its value latest end of summer, when the SPS Airdrop ends, I am not to fond of having the biggest part of my portfolio still in DEC. So I will continue to buy Credits with my DEC even though this means I am realizing losses.
With the current DEC price this would mean I exchange a bit more than 76,000 DEC in order to get 300,000 Credits until Sunday. This would leave me with nearly 120.000 DEC and 700,000 Credits in my account, which I think is a good number for the near future, balancing SPS Airdrop income and volatility risk to my Splinterlands portfolio.
Together with my other assets this should be enough to stick to my plan buying 250 booster packs.
Never the less currently I am of the opinion that DEC and SPS are both currently oversold and should recover in the near future. That does not mean, that the prices cannot fall sharply during the next days.
Therefore in addition to my 285.68 € sitting on Binance.com, I made available another 200 € to be spend on Splinterlands assets if needed. This gives me the **possibility **to
- stop exchanging DEC in Credits if the DEC price is falling sharply again,
- buy more packs, like it was planned originally,
- buy SPS if the market stay so deep,
- keep them for good opportunities.
On the next update on Sunday I will know what to do, and let you know in the next update. I cannot wait to finally open some booster packs.

For my Daily Quest on the 10th, and 11th of January I received one of each Legendary Potion and Alchemy Potion. On the 12th I got 4 Credits.

I played only a few battles during these 3 days. Just enough to do my daily quests and farm a few DEC. The rents have been mainly for the brawl.

The Cryptocrash came to a hold for the moment. Therefore the portfolio could get some relief. All assets increased in price. The increase in HP comes from the first revenues I got for blogging on PeakD. In the next update I will as well include HPD, SPT and One.Up as tokens in the portfolio. Than I have an amount which makes sense to keep track of.

Der letzte Brawl meiner Gilde Bearded Beavers
Da ich diese Woche nicht viel spielen konnte, war der Guild Brawl das Ingame Highlight der Woche.
Die Beavers werden erneut zweiter in einem starken Wettbewerb
Wir haben den 2. Platz belegt mit 31 Siegen and 27 Niederlagen = 53.4 % Win rate.
Der 1. Platz ging völlig verdient an die Cardinals mit einem wirklich starken Auftritt und 45 Siegen bei nur 13 Niederlagen = 77.6 % Win rate.
Der 3. Platz erkämpfte sich Silence behind the Moon mit 25 Siegen and 20 Niederlagen = 55.6 % Win rate.
Da sieht man, wie wichtig es ist alle Frays mit Guildenmitglieder zu besetzen. Obwohl wir eine niedrigere Win Rate als die Drittplatzierten hatten, haben wir es geschafft insgesamt mehr Siege einzufahren.
Gratulation an unsere Top 3. Mit ihren 18 Siegen waren die drei für mehr als 60 % unserer Siege verantwortlich und haben damit den Weg zum 2. Platz geebnet.
Meine persönlihce Performance kann man nur als unterirdisch bezeichnen. Ich hatte erneut einen Fray in dem nur Unrtamed Karten erlaubt waren und obwohl ich mir einige gemietet habe, kam ich nicht auf zu guten Formationen. Darüber hinaus wurde ich in zwei Gefechten mit Gladiatoren in Berührung, was es nicht einfacher machte.

Dieses Gefecht war sehr einseitig. Zwei Gladiatoren auf der anderen Seite und das Phantom of the Abyss vernichteten mich bereits in Runde 3.

Ich weiß nicht mehr, wie ich auf diese Formation kam, aber Poison und Earthquake haben mein Team einfach gekillt. Kron the Undying ist aber sicherlich auch die Beste Karte, die man in dem Setup haben kann.

Dieses Gefecht war wirklich knapp. Ich war mir am Ende der 3. Runde sicher ich würde gewinnen. Dann hat der Gladiator meinen Bone Golem erledigt und durch Bloddlust war sie danach nahezu unverwundbar.

Markt update - 5 Tage bis zum Start des General Sale
Wir sind nun 5 Tage vor dem Start des General Sale für die Chaos Legion Edition. Seit Samstag tausche ich jeden Tag DEC in Credits um die Boosterpacks gleich am Montag kaufen zu können. Der Markt war in den letzten Tagen sehr volatil, daher ist es an der Zeit für ein Update.
Wertverlust des DEC Tokens vorerst gestoppt - DEC Tausch führt zu Verlusten
Nach meinem Update vom 9. Januar ist DEC am 10. noch einmal kräftig gefallen. Zum Glück erholt sich der gesamte Kryptomarkt seit dem 11. wieder etwas. In den letzten 5 Tagen habe ich insgesamt 375.000 Credits mit DEC gekauft. Meine Kosten waren:
8.1.: 18,778 DEC
8.1.: 19,503 DEC
10.1.: 21,547 DEC
11.1.: 19,855 DEC
12.1.: 19,122 DEC
Für die 375.000 DEC (375 $) habe ich 98,805 DEC eingetauscht. Im schnitt habe ich also pro DEC 0,0038 $ erhalten.
Um diese DEC zu kaufen habe ich im Schnitt 0,00485 $ ausgegeben. Das führt zu einem realisierten Verlust von 0,0015 $ pro DEC oder 103,75 $.
Zusätzlich habe ich nicht realisierte Verluste auf meine restlichen 196,249 DEC von 206,06 $, welche zum Teil in den kommenden Tagen realisiert werden, wenn ich weitere Credits mit DEC kaufe.
Insgesamt ist das ein Verlust von 309,81 $.

Am 31.12.2021 hatte ich 684 SPS. Durch den Airdrop und das Staking der SPS hätte ich ca. 3 SPS pro Tag erhalten. Also ohne die zusätzlichen DEC hätte ich bis heute 36 weitere SPS erhalten bzw. insgesamt 720 SPS.
Ich habe heute 1044 SPS. Daher habe ich durch die zusätzlichen DEC in den letzten 12 Tagen 324 zusätzliche SPS erhalten. Bei einem Marktpreis von derzeit 0,177 $ pro SPS sind das insgesamt 57,35 $. Das gleicht den Verlust durch die DEC bei weitem nicht aus.
Was habe ich durch diese Spekulation gelernt?
Ich habe diverse Dinge gelernt:
- Habe Zeit - Investiere nur in spekulative Dinge, wenn du Verluste auch aussitzen kannst, und nicht zum dümmsten Zeitpunkt verkaufen musst.
- Pass auf die Volatilität auf - Wenn ich ein spekulatives Investment plane sollte ich mir vorher die Volatitlität des Assets genau anschauen, um meine Risiken abschätzen zu können
- Unterschätze nie das Risiko! - Kalkuliere die möglichen Gewinne gegenüber den möglichen Verlusten
- Sei nicht zu gierig - Assets die gefallen sind und günstig aussehen, können dennoch weiter fallen
Die möglichen zusätzlichen SPS haben mich blind für die Gefahr eines deutlich fallenden DEC Kurses gemacht. Das obwohl bei genauerem Studium des DEC Charts diese Bewegung durchaus wahrscheinlich war. Ich dachte DEC kann nicht mehr so tief fallen, und das obwohl ich wusste, welchem Stress die Finanzmärkte derzeit ausgesetzt sind. Das war eine schlechte Vorbereitung für ein Investment von über 1.000 €.
Werde ich meine Strategie vor dem General Sale anpassen?
Ich bin der Meinung, dass DEC spätestens Ende Sommer, wenn der SPS Airdrop aufhört deutlich an Wert verlieren wird. Daher bin ich auch kein Fan davon, so viele DEC wie ich derzeit im meinem Portfolio habe zu behalten. Ich werde also zumindest bis Sonntag weiterhin pro Tag 75.000 Credits mit DEC kaufen, auch wenn das heißt, dass ich weitere Verluste realisiere.
Beim derzeitigen DEC Kurs bedeutet das, ich tausche etwas mehr als 76.000 DEC in Credits um. Danach habe ich noch ca. 120.000 DEC in meinem Portfolio, was eine gute Balance zwischen SPS aus dem SPS Airdrop und Volatilität für mein Portfolio bedeutet.
*Zusammen mit meinen anderen Assets sollte das reichen, damit ich meinen Plan 250 Booster Packs zu kaufen am Montag ausführen kann.
Unabhängig davon bin ich der Meinung, das DEC und SPS kurzfristig überverkauft sind und sich in der nahen Zukunft erholen sollten. Das heißt aber nicht, dass die Presie in den nächsten Tagen nicht noch einmal scharf fallen können. Das kann niemand sagen.
Daher habe ich zusätzlich zu meinen 285,68 € die auf Binance.com auf mich warten, weitere 200 € verfügbar gemacht, die ich in Splinterlands investieren kann. Das gibt mir die Möglichkeit
- den Tausch von DEC in Credits zu unterbrechen wenn der DEC Kurs erneut stark fällt,
- mehr Booster Packs zu kaufen, so wie ursprünglich geplant,
- SPS zu kaufen wenn der Markt so tief bleibt,
- sie zu behalten und später bei einer guten Gelegenheit einzusetzen.
Am Sonntag gibt es das nächste Update und dann weiß ich auch sicher, was ich am Montag tun werde. Ich kann es kaum erwarten endlich weitere Booster Packs zu öffnen.
Belohnungen für Tagesquests
Als Belohnung für die Erfüllung der Tagesquests erhielt jeweils eine Legendary und eine Alchemy Potion sowie 4 Credits.

Ich habe in den letzten 3 Tagen wenig gespielt und mehr geschrieben, daher nur die wenigen DEC durch Kämpfe. Die Karten wurden hauptsächlich für den Brawl geliehen.

Der Crash am Kryptomarket ist vorerst gestoppt. Daher konnte sich das Portfolio etwas erholen. Alles Assets sind im Preis gestiegen. Der Anstieg in HP ist auf die ersten Zahlungen aus dem bloggen zurückzuführen. Ab dem nächsten Update werde ich auch HBD, SPT und One.Up als token mit aufnehmen, da diese dann eine relevante Größe haben werden.
