Hey what's up guys, I'm not the biggest consumer for Korean food but this year I really want to explore Korean culture, especially Korean food so today I want to give an introduction to a couple of popular Korean foods!!
Kimchi ~ ~ ~ ~Most have probably heard of kimchi but what exactly is kimchi? Kimchi is a a traditional Korean side dish made with different vegetables and seasons! It's very nutritional and very delicious!!
Main Ingredients: Cucumber, scallion, napa cabbage, radish, ginger and garlic
Nutrition: Provides half of the daily vitamin c and carotene suggested, contains tons of dietary fiber and contains tons on vitamins
Fun Facts:
• Kimchi is South Korea's national food dish
• At the Kimchi field museum is documented 187 different varieties of kimchi
• 40 whole pounds of kimchi are reported to be eaten by each South Korean annually
Gimbap/ Kimbap ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Kimbap (Or Gimbap) is a very popular Korean dish, derived from a Japanese sushi style norimaki (Meaning rolled sushi), Kimbap is made with white rice along with various other ingredients such as different fish, meats and vegetables rapped in gim (Sheets of dried seaweed).
Main Ingredients: White rice, fish, meat, eggs, and vegetables.
Hoeddeok ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~A different kind of Korean food, Hoeddeok are sweet pancakes, definitely more complicated then regular pancakes. This street food contains very sweet ingredients that added up to around 230 calories per on Hoeddeok.
Main Ingredients:
•Dough made from flour, water, yeast, milk and sugar.
•Mixture made from brown sugar, honey, chopped peanuts and cinnamon.
Nutrition: Hoeddeok can be a bit fattening, even though it's extremely delicious.
