In Kuantan, there is a very simple looking restaurant called Phin Ju, that served some simple breakfast for the local residents such as Bao, WuGok (taro puff) and ZhuChangFen (rice noodle roll).
This restaurant never failed me with their consistent standard for years. A simple plate of fry noodle only cost me RM2 (USD 0.50).
Bao or steamed bun is a filled with savory or sweet fillings inside which locals usually eat for breakfast. Dou Sha Bao (Red Bean Steamed Buns) is my favorite.
ZhuChangFen is actually rice noodle that rolled into a shape look like pig intestine. The first two characters in its name, “ZhuChang,” means pig intestine. Simple looking ZhuChangFen (rice noodle roll).
WuGok are made from taro that is steamed and mashed, and filled with marinated pork. Crispy outside, soft inside.. WuGok (taro puff).
They served other types of deep-fried snacks and buns too.
My Final reviews:
Ambiance & Hygiene: 3 stars
Food: 3 stars
Worth the money: 4 stars
