Sandakan, Food Paradise!
Woke up around 7 a.m and started our journey to "Little Hong Kong" which is Sandakan! Nuk and Eldon went there by plane so only the two of us, Darryl and me, taking the road all the way to Sandakan. Luck was on our side. There was no congestion on the road so we had a very smooth drive. It has been our customary to have our breakfast in Tamparuli everytime we're heading to Sandakan. We reached Tamparuli at around 9 a.m, and ordered our favorite "Tuaran Noodle".
The weather that Friday was a little bit hotter than usual so we went around Tamparuli town stock up on water, drinks, food, and candy so we won't have to make a stop every time we're hungry. We left Tamparuli at around 10 a.m. Like always, the view was amazing. We reached Sandakan at around 4 p.m. We met up with Nuk and the boys from Chugs On Deck and went for Coto Makassar. I was so happy to finally taste Coto Makassar. This was in Batu 7.
So this is Coto! I can imagine myself craving for this. Haha! Then after few hours hanging out, talking, catching up, Eldon came looking for us. Hungry! he said so we went to dinner. Back in KK before we left for Sandakan, we kept telling each other that we are going to stuff our face with food! Sandakan is famous for having good food at lower price range. So for dinner, we went for Bak Kut Teh! Yasss! Syn Lok Bak Kut Teh at Bandar Indah, Batu 4. It was so good. I'm missing it now.
After dinner, we went home to our rental home for the week. After shower and settling in, I went to the kitchen for some hot coffee before bed. I sat at the kitchen table then one by one drag a chair and then we started chit-chatting. Jordan came for a visit around 11 p.m. Yes! 11 p..m. then we continue chit chatting. At around 2 a.m, Nuk and Darryl went out to look for food. Yes! Food again! and boy did they surprised me. They manage to get Kon Lau Noodles at 2 in the morning. Haha! But this time around, I have to pass. We end our day at 5 in the morning as Darryl started feeling tired from driving the whole day. From 8 p.m until the 5 a.m that we were hanging out in the kitchen, Eldon was asleep as he went to the graveyard to look for his families' grave for a visit under the hot weather of Sandakan earlier that day. So when we thought we can get a good sleep for at least 5 hours, Eldon went around waking us up at 8 in the morning. Hungry! again he said. So we all went for breakfast at Pasar Kim Fung, Batu 4.
We were quite busy that Saturday and Sunday because of the SNF so we only manage to go for nasi campur and lots of nasi kuning. Surprisingly, not one picture have I took of the Nasi Kuning. Maybe every time my order of nasi kuning arrived, I thought of nothing but to finish it. It was so good! Our last day in Sandakan, we managed to try the roti kahwin in Pasir Putih. I love the one with tausa!
To tell you the truth, there's still more food we haven't try. We'll be back soon, for sure!
