I don't think he could have written the same songs he wrote without the experience that he had throughout his life. Talent only goes so far. The music has to be real and resonate with people. Like when

Even if he was born with some sort of gift, I think he also earned it. His personality and experience in life shines through his music. He gave up everything to make his music. It was a great sacrifice.
