Animals have emotions too, and they show them in their own way. This is exactly what I see in this week’s picture prompt of two horses. I will respond to the questions below. **Describe what you see** I see two horses expressing happiness together. One of them is jumping with excitement, as if they are enjoying the fun of being with their own kind. **Describe what you feel** I feel that, just like humans express emotions, animals do too. It seems like these horses have not seen each other for a very long time. Maybe they were separated for years, feeling lonely and silent until this moment when they were finally brought together. **Write a story or poem about what you think is going on** Once upon a time, in the city of Canaan, there was a great famine. Green crops and grasses for animals became very scarce. The president of the country ordered everyone to travel to nearby lands to look for food and pasture. The people divided themselves into two or three groups and went to different countries. Malam, a wealthy man, who trade on horses, gave one of his horses to his son and the other to his daughter as they each set out on their separate journeys. Malam was left alone, as he assigned the care of other horses down to his extended family members hoping and praying that they would find peace in the places they were going. Years later, in those foreign lands, things began to change. The locals could no longer tolerate the presence of the foreigners. Tensions grew, and before long, war broke out… When the famine ended, everyone from the affected country had to return to their homeland. Malam’s son and daughter had both grown into adults with their children. They brought their horses back with them, and the horses instantly recognized each other. They remembered the time they had once lived together before being separated. The reunion was full of joy. One of the horses even jumped with excitement after seeing its old friend again, having been apart for such a long time. This is how we humans feel too. When we think about how many years we’ve been apart from a close friend, the longing is strong. But when we finally reunite, the happiness is overwhelming just like the joy the horses felt.
