Coffee, Again, But With Cookies This Time
TESCO ITALIAN-INSPIRED + FREEFROM COOKIES
Greetings and happy Tuesday!
Yesterday I talked about my Nespresso machine and how it's been working hard for me all this time. Today I gave the little guy a bit of a break. I popped into my local Tesco Express and grabbed a house brand coffee. I've always seen it there next to the other stuff. The "Tesco Italian Inspired Freshly Ground Dark & Rich" apparently "A rich blend, roasted for depth, smoothness and full body". It's rated "4; Medium - Strong".
Being the house brand, it's the cheapest on the shelf, but not necessarily because it's the lowest quality. Tesco is able to undercut other brands since they don't have to pay themselves for the shelf space. I think that's how it is anyway. Besides, they're probably able to achieve larger economies of scale than others due to their sheer size.
At least Tesco hasn't implemented "shrinkflatoion", as mentioned by in this post. The volume of coffee appears not to have changed and still completely filled the bowl.
I have to also mention that I'm totally enjoying my new Morrisons mini press. It makes everything clean and fast. I must have brewed the coffee for longer than the recommended 3-5 minutes because I got distracted by something. It came out a little stronger than I expected. The body is "full" for sure, since it almost tasted like an espresso. Some of the super fine particles also go through the sieve, as evidenced by the thin layer at the bottom of the cup.
I'm eating healthy these days, but I quite fancied some cookies today so I picked the cheapest thing I could find haha. Also, it was the only pack small enough. I didn't want to buy an entire pack of 10 cookies and binge eat the entire thing. I didn't actually realise till I got home that I had picked up one of their "freeFROM" products. It didn't taste bad at all, but I did notice it was slightly lacking in that punch you get from real cookies with all the evil things in it 😂
Bottom line, I actually don't mind this Tesco coffee at all. It's better than a number of branded ones I've tried in the past. It doesn't have a charcoal bitter taste like some strong coffees, even though I actually like a bit of that sometimes, and I can imagine it would make a good base for people that want to add sugar or milk, or whatever else people add to coffee these days. This one is a solid 6.7 out of 10!
Peace & Love,
Adé
