Good morning/evening fellow steempunks. I hope you all had a great weekend! I had some fun in the kitchen making a video dessert for the gorgeous who had a birthday yesterday. As I am fairly new to making videos I still have to do some editing. Hopefully, it will be ready today to show you all.
But let's talk green smoothies first. this morning I went for a quick run in the national park before we had our Khmer language class. Since this is a foreign language with a different writing style (comes from Sanskrit) I needed something nourishing to boost my memory and energize my body after my run.
CHIA SEED CITRUS PINEAPPLE POST-WORKOUT GREEN SMOOTHIE
Why did I choose these ingredients on this particular day? Or why does this smoothie is the best drink after your workout? Chia seeds are an excellent sources of protein, minerals, and electrolytes to replenish your body after a workout.
We need protein to build and repair muscles to make you stronger after your workout. Furthermore, chia seeds help to fill you up and create a feeling of satiety, preventing unnecessary snacking.
Next to adding protein to build and repair muscle after a workout, chia seeds also help to replenish essential nutrients used during your workout. These nutrients include calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, iron, zinc, and niacin (or vitamin b3).
Chia seeds also have the ability to absorb water and hydrate your body. Just the thing you need after a sweaty workout!
And of course, the pineapple and oranges in this smoothie will boost your immune system and energize your body, making this the perfect combination for a post-workout smoothie.
INGREDIENTS (SERVES 2)
- 2-3 cups fresh spinach
- 2 oranges, peeled and seeds removed
- 1.5 cup pineapple chunks
- 1.5 cups water
- 2 tbsp chia seeds (optional: I added some extra chia seeds as a topping too)
- Goji berries (extra optional topping)
DIRECTIONS
- Blend spinach and water until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and blend again. If the smoothie is too thick for you, add more liquid base. If you have a high-speed blender you can throw in everything at once.
- Top with chia seeds, goji berries, or other superfoods you like (optional).
