No recipe post today. After running around all day, making sure customers are happy, running the line at the restaurant, going to pick up supplies at the warehouse, and holding a kitchen staff meeting, I’m exhausted.
Instead, I thought I’d post a picture of this beautiful Teriyaki Bowl. It is hands-down the most popular dish at our restaurant, and I still can’t figure out why. I mean, I think I make a mean teriyaki sauce, but I’ve never fully comprehended why our customers go so crazy for such a simple dish.
Maybe it reminds people of their childhood...eating home cooked stir-fry that Mom or Dad would whip up for dinner. I based my recipe on one my Dad would use to marinate salmon. I tweaked it a little, and made it my own.
Whatever their reasons may be, I go through at least 12 gallons of my sauce each week. I’m just waiting for the day some asks me to cater their wedding with a Teriyaki Sauce fountain...
