During my latest trip I decided to have a snack and chose this tasty cake that is known as a Mille Feuilles in France, something that literally translates to "Thousand Leafs". Now, don't believe the hype, because it doesn't really come with 1.000 leafs at all. Not that I'm counting :)
This pastry is also known as Napoleon in English-speaking countries. I guess it has something to do with France and Napoleon Bonaparte, but I can't figure the reasoning behind the name.
Anyway, this cake is a match made in heaven of alternate layers of pastry puff and vanilla cream, with a topping of butter cream frosting and chocolate. Yummy!
