Hello Hive Community,
I hope you are well, creative and in good spirits.
Unfortunately, the situation here in Germany is still bad. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to satisfy my addiction to light in my appartment. Hoping that the situation out there will calm down soon.
This is Part 3 of my little Series "Lines". If you missed the other parts of my series, you can find them here:
➡️Lines Part I
➡️ Lines Part II
In this shot I mainly moved the camera (panning and rotating). In parts, the light was also moved.
To create the lines around the outside of the light figure, I lit lighters in three different colours and then panned the camera. After each pan, the camera, which was mounted on my Camera Rotation Tool, was rotated 30° around the lens axis and panned again until 360° was complete.
(Sigma 28-70 mm @46 mm f/4.5 | ISO 100 )
After the first part of the shot was done, I put the lens cap on the lens while the exposure was continuing and in total darkness I swapped the tripod and lens (to my Samyang 14 mm). The lens cap was then removed again to create the light figure in the centre.
The light figure in the middle was created with a Diamond plexy blade and yellow colour gel, lit by Ryu's Lightpainter torch (by Lightpainting Paradise) and a blue finger LED. Camera rotation 3x120°, Samyang 14 mm @ f/10
Total exposure time: 368 sec.
Logically, this shot was taken in a single exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing!
What is painting with light?
Light painting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
I hope you like the little "behind the scenes" description. I would appreciate an upvote or a comment if you like it.
Happy sunday and be creative!
